When you have a day off work,do you just straighten the house here & there or do you tackle everything in 1 day ?

Frigerator,

Tub

Garage

Kids room (if you have kids)  then they drag it back out after school

etc...

For me, it really depends on how much energy I have on that particular day. Sometimes I'll just putz around and do things here and there...whatever I can manage without getting stressed over it. Other times I'll tackle a large project that I spend almost the whole day on (have to be in the mood for these).

There are some things that just HAVE to get done, so they come first....like changing the litter boxes and vacuuming.

I'm a little OCD and used to get stressed if I couldn't get to everything in one day. I finally realized, "What a stupid thing to get stressed about!" So...there's a lot of task carry-over to the next available cleaning day.

I might go crazy and do it all in one day, but I'm way more likely to have a session to get things nice and straight the evening before my day off and then just spend the day chilling out - like today: all I've done is lay on the sofa or run about playing hide and seek with Mouse (until I came on this site that is)!

The annoying thing when I have a crazy session and try to get everywhere all tidy and clean is I ALWAYS miss something and see it just as I sit down.

I usually spend 1-2 Saturdays a month completely cleaning the house and then just do small cleans in between. I can't do much cleaning Monday-Friday because my daughter wont stay still for long enough and if I clean her stuff, she just pulls it all back out. I clean when her daddy is home so he can watch her.

I spent most of my day off on Tuesday cleaning my house.  I had been dealing with some medical issues so it took me longer than normal to clean because I was behind on things.  Hubby normally will help me out when I get behind like that.  My poor hubby has a messed up knee right now and is probably looking at surgery in the near future.  He has been in pain lately and was not really able to help me.  I am glad I got the cleaning done though since a minor medical issue is now causing me pain again.  I can use the next 2 days I have off to relax now.

If my hubby does have knee surgery I will most likely take my mom up on her offer to hire a cleaning lady one a time basis to deep clean my house.  If my hubby ends up on bed rest for a while I think my mom would hire someone to help me out once a week temporarily.  I have been putting her off on this because she sometimes sends me money as a present and I figured I would just save that expense unless I really needed the help.

What a lovely mom you have:)  I hope you are both fit and well soon so you can spend most of your time doing nice things OTHER than keeping your house clean!

Ack!

I do some things fairly regularly: cat boxes, dishes, etc., but everything else -- most notably, dealing with the clutter I create -- gets moved to an imaginary day when I'll have time. Then, when one of those days does come about (usually in response to someone coming to visit), I manage to do the clutter and clean the bathrooms. Dusting and vaccuuming usually happen maybe once every 6 months or so. But I live alone, so the only one it affects is me. When I live with other people, I'm more conscientious. And by clutter, I mostly mean papers on tables, etc., not stuff all over the floor. I have some empty boxes that I need to take down, and I'm still not completely done unpacking from when I moved, but we're not talking about some of those hoarder houses, etc.

With a small apartment like I got, I pick up here & there too but I can always find something to do.
