my kitten i found under my car abandoned and yes the first poop was kinda hard and dark brown and now it is like w mus-tardy color i go scared when i saw that and i was just really worried. i have been caring for this kitten now for at least 4-5 days and it is doing great with the nipple that hartz has. however i cant feed it on its tummy it just keeps moving and clawing the bottle out of its mouth the only way it will eat is when it is wrapped up in a blanket or towel and then held up right more like a 45 degree angle and also one more question. my kitten is only eating about .2 or .3 oz each feeding time and i don't want it to starve but i know that when he pushes the nipple away from him then he is done but sometimes it scares me and he is in my room in a box with a bean pack near him i don't know where to get a heated pack that doesn't cost bout $20 but i will do anything right now to insure that this kitten stays alive my uncle and boy friend aren't to happy but i am well pleased that this kitten is happy and well feed so the older they get the less times you feed them during the day? please message me back and if you have anymore tips for a new caring kitten mommy please let me know.  Send me a PM.  I  would love to hear from anyone who knows anything about kittens and their care.

Rachael, welcome!

First, nobody will mail you, we use this Forum, and private messages on PM or Mail are used almost only if its something embarrassing somewhere, or by any other reason not for public.

continuing..

You mentioned Hartz nipples you are happy with them.  What kmr do you use?  I ask because some forumites here were not happy with Hartz kmr, althoug others found it OK.

Other positions than this on tummy, paws down are dangerous. They may easily inhale some drop into lungs, and get pneumonia...

I have two advices. Him struggling with the nap.   1.  The hole is perhaps too small?

2.  They are usually threading on moms breast when they eat, to stimulate her to give milk.  This struggling may be basically such a threading...  Set a sock on the bottle, with a hole in the middle for the nap.  It will feel more as moms body for him, and thus, not the same strengh put into this.

Last, heaters.  It partly depends on how warm or cold it is at your place.  But you can use bottles with warm water (doesnt need to be hot water).  Wrap them up in a towel...

Or  having some raw rice in a sock, and warm up in micro.  Again - not too hot, or wrap up i a towel.

Use fleece or flannel if possible, so the nails wont fasten too much.

Good luck!

  Welcome to our Forums!

ps.   Normally, we recommend new users to start their own thread, as it is easier for everyone to see.

Here you have exactly the same problems as the thread-starter, so Im letting your post be still here.

(I or you could ask a mod to move this post into your own thread, so it isnt necessary to rewrite it all).

But if you get other questions or reports, please start your own thread.  This is the best way to be seen, to get best possible service and help.

Good luck!

Welcome to the Cat Site. I hope you will get your problem solved with your kitten. I don't have any experience taking care of kittens, but there are many here who do and I expect you will get lots of information here to help you.
