Where is the wound? How big is it? Can you take a picture of it? It could be many things, and unfortunately none of us can tell you if it's going to be okay. Is he eating, drinking, peeing, pooping and playing normally? Is he allowed outdoors?

Hey, thanks for your response, the hole is high up on the back top of leg, near his tail, about an inch or two away from his anus. Just weird cause of how perfectly round it is, like u could almost stick your finger in it, looks clean tho. He lives outside, usually only comes in now & then for love and when it storms. He is eating, drinking fine, assume he is peeing, pooping ok,...but then again, I dont see it since he is outdoor guy. The spot is clean, not swollen, he doesn't seem to be too bothered with it, I'm just concerned cause it looks odd. He is still nice, playful, affectionate, etc. he has licked it a lot, just like he cleans everywhere else...

You should attempt to take his temp to check for infection and if he'll let you flush the wound with sterile saline solution which you can get at any drugstore.

I am surprised it's not bleeding, but if he has been licking it clean, maybe the bleeding has stopped, and it's starting to heal?

My recommendation would be to keep him inside, keep an eye on it and get him to a vet tomorrow to get it checked out.

I would agree it would be a god idea to check temperature if you can, and try to clean with sterile saline solution. Is there any way you can tell if it is a deep wound or not?  Also, have you been able to touch the area to feel for any swelling or is he normally sensitive about you touching in that area? Might be able to feel if there is any hardness/swelling that is not apparent to the eye.

If you can't be certain it's superficial I would try to get him to a vet as soon as you can (one they're open), particularly as you describe it as a puncture wound and you have no idea how it happened.

He is not sensitive to us touching this spot, my boyfriend examined him more close up than I did, he says there was no hardness or swelling...and from what I saw I agree with him..it looks weird, but I feel better knowing that he doesn't seem to be acting/feeling different than normal, and he actually let us pick em up and look there , inspect, feel around, etc..?

I appreciate everyone's kind responses....he is out right now doing his thing, as always. He will probably come around soon for his dinner, or sooner when he smells the grill going. I'll check him out again, and see what he may let us do. Thanks, kindness of strangers actually helps a lot when you are worried about these kinds of things...

I agree that you should have it checked by a vet. There is really no way to determine here just what it could be.  Good luck and keep us posted about what it turns out to be.

It could be an abscess and the white "worm" could be maggot IF the would has been infected if the cat is an outdoor cat. Just a guesstimate on my part but your cat needs a vet immediately. Please keep us posted. :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes: for your Henry. :vibes:

Ok, thanks, he is an out door cat...have done more research, think it is tapeworm! Not related to injury....maybe...gonna take him to get checked out. Appreciate everyone's comments/concerns. New to cat owning and thought I'd seek some input! Thanks again.

If the wound is very close to the anus, then yes, the white small worms are tapeworms which are easily treated with one deworming pill from your vet and keeping your cat on a flea control topical as they can get the tapeworms from fleas. Also, the open wound your describe being near the anus could be from a ruptured anal sac. If so, then antibiotics may be in order. A good idea to get your cat in to the vet for these two issues! Best of luck! :wavey: :vibes::vibes::vibes::vibes:
