Hello everybody I am Michael. And I found a kitten on the streets a couple months ago and she is deaf . anybody else on here have a deaf cat? I am looking for a collar that has a vibrate that way i can train her to come to me..anybody know of one
. I don't know of a collar that vibrates but some cats can learn what your hand signals mean. Of course this only works when they are looking at you. I'm interested to see what advice other people might have.
Welcome to TCS! I don't have experience with deaf cats, but I do with dogs. Hand signals coupled with vibrations, i.e., stomping on the floor or pounding a table top, to get their attention work. You can use small treats to teach the hand signals; it's the same principle as clicker training, with a specific hand signal of your choice used in place of a click.
Yeah I have been trying to teach her with hand signals its quite the chore lol. I did buy a collar that beeps and lights up just so I can locate her. So that helps a little. She finds some of the oddest and out of the way places to sleep.
I don't know if someone dumped her cause she was deaf . or they was just stupid.and I really didn't need another cat I already have 4 . but I took her in and wouldn't trade her for the world. I guess god knew I would take care of her and put her where I would find her.
thank you for taking in the kitty! I've wanted a deaf cat (I was told my one cat is deaf.. but, she's not. I was disappointed.. personal reasons why I wanted a deaf cat!)
You two will learn together how to 'train' her. It'll be ok!
Draco yeah she is a handful. I have never had a kitten that has had so much energy. I can have the house clean and in 30 minutes.it looks like two hyper 5 yearold boys spent a day alone in there..and I know its not good for her but she eats pretty much any food.if you drop it on the floor and she is there.she will eat it before you have a chance to pick it up...b
