Hi. I just joined this website because I can't find good information on what may have happened. So, first off yes I am taking my cat to the vet asap, but I am broke and am waiting two days at the most for a check so I can pay for the visit. So I'm wondering if two days is too long, should I borrow money and pay someone back in two days and take my cat tomorrow?

Here's what happened/is wrong:

Two nights ago my cat did not come in in the evening as she usually does, she came back around 6 in the morning (!!) and scratched at the door so I let her in, she seemed fine and came and slept on my bed until about 11. She then went and slept in front of the bathroom door (she just really likes the bathroom door) but eventually I had to use the bathroom so I nudged her out of the way and opened the door... Ever since then she has been sleeping in her litter box or just sitting in there (good thing Id just cleaned it...) I thought she was just tired and resting somewhere she wouldn't be bothered, she's ornery like that.. Today she was still in there and she's barely eaten (she's small though its not much of a difference but still...) I took her out to see if maybe she was hurt (she had a little blood on her lip when she got back inside I thought maybe she hurt something else)

I felt her all over, nothing felt broken or off kilter but I've noticed her tail is limp!

She isn't moving it so I was worried she might have hurt a nerve in her back somehow? I felt her tail, there are no kinks in it so I (as lightly as I could but also enough to annoy her) pinched her tail, (she could feel it she got upset and tried to bite me) so I'm thinking she may have pulled some muscle or sprained something or has a nerve issue? I'm not sure how she would have managed that? Also I'm worried about her bowel movements I don't think she's used the litter box as anything but a bed since she got back. (But if she had no control around there she wouldn't have been able not to? Maybe it's because she's been eating less?)

If anyone can help me out I would be so grateful I'm getting her to a vet asap and am so worried I just want to know whether I should be less worried (or more!)

Any help at all would be great I'm so worried I've never had to deal with this before I don't know how cat anatomy works...

With this change in behavior, I'd borrow the money and get her to the vet tomorrow, if not tonight.  Sounds like she's not feeling well at all and may be somewhat scared if she's in her litter box.

That's what I'm leaning towards now.. She doesn't seem too upset she will let me pet her and didn't argue when I took her out to see if I could see anything obviously wrong, she just keeps going back to the litter box... But thats still odd, shes usually on the bed or the windowsill... Thank you.

Any change in behavior like this is cause for concern and warrants a vet's visit in my opinion.  You know your cat best and you know when something's not right, so go with your gut.  Hope you get her some help soon.
