Please forgive me. Where are my manners? I've posted at this forum about my cat and her newborn without introducing myself here.Well, I have a two year old multi-colored Tabby whose name is Brownie. We didn't give her that name, it was given to her by her previous owner. An elderly woman who lives by herself and could no longer take care of Brownie. Also, she was breaking the rules of her lease by having her in the house and her landlord started asking her questions and making frequent visits unannounced.We got her back in April and she has a 5 week old kitten now. It's a girl and we named her Aja. Well, my wife did anyway. The terms of endearment we use for them are Brownie-Kins and Aja-kins. We've decided that we are going to keep Aja and we are going to have them both spayed. Aja is a Calico patterned kitten who's adorable beyond words; and she's very, very energetic. I have scratches on my calves and shins from her attacking me. LOL.Anyway, our family couldn't be happier with the new additions to our home. And Brownie only having one female worked out PERFECTLY for us. When Brownie was pregnant my wife said she wanted to keep one of the kittens if it's a female and we will find homes for the others. Well, turns out she only had one kitten (this is approximately her fourth or fifth pregnancy by the way). So we get to keep Aja-Kins and we do not have to worry about finding suitable and loving families for any other kittens. Yay!!!I would like to give a quick background on my screen name here (Mr. Wendall). "Mr. Wendall" is the name I have given to a very beautiful Black and White Stray Cat I was feeding every day; morning and evening. I named him Mr. Wendall based on a 1990's song of that same name. The theme of the song is about a youth who always made time to feed and spend time with a homeless man named Mr. Wendall. The significance of the song was that althoough Mr. Wendall is homeless, he is kind hearted and very, very, very wise. The youngster would drop by to give him food to eat and Mr. Wendall would also "Feed The Young Man" with his pearls of wisdom. Everytime I would go and feed Mr. Wendall (the cat, that is) I would also stick around to pet him and talk to him. He is so very, very friendly and such a sweet cat. He hangs out at the house of an Asian family who takes care of him but never let him into the house. The man of the house told me that Mr. Wendall isn't their cat. He just started hanging around because they would feed him.It's been precisely 5 weeks now (yes, the same age as Aja-Kins) since I've last been around to feed and hang out with Mr. Wendall. The two reasons I had stopped are 1) I believe he was putting his scent on me when he would brush up against my legs. From what I've read, when cats do this they are claiming you as their property. I've also read that can cause some issues at home between me and a pregnant Brownie-Kins who already claimed me. The second reason is because I have read that a lot of cats can be carriers of Feline Herpes (Upper Respiratory Infection) and it can spread through cats sharing food and water bowls. Altough I would wash every bowl I had used to feed Mr. Wendall, but still......But, I would drive past the house every now and again and I see Mr. Wendall is still around and he looks pretty content. "Go 'head Mr. Wendall". (a line from the song).
