So our AC is on the fritz, and while we wait for our replacement parts, we've been living in 88 degree temps in the house.  We have fans everywhere, and although windows are open, there is absolutely no wind.

Our 3 3-month old kittens are panting.  And not playing as much.  Of course if us humans could pant, we would, and at the moment, me and the family haven't been moving around much  LOL  I'm assuming it's ok, but wanted to make sure.  We've been through hell and high water for these kittens since birth.  If I should be doing something more, I want to know.  They still respond when we call them, but have spent most of the day just laying around, sometimes panting. There is plenty of free water (they drink the dogs' water).

Should I give them a bath?  I figure feral cats live in hotter temps and are fine.

Sorry about your ac problems; I can relate.  The ac in my condo was problematic for the last six years I lived there.  Even with the ac running 24x7, on particular hot days, it never got below 83 to 85.  Ritz suffered through it the last four years; I was bothered by the heat more than she was.  I moved a year ago, and one of Ritz favorite places is in the back bedroom where the afternoon shines:  she sunbathes..

Now, Ritz is/was an adult cat at that point, I don't know about kittens.  I don't know if bathing them would be a good idea.  But you could wet their paws with cool water.  If you have marble or a tile floor (i.e, not carpet), trying getting them to lay on the tile/marble.  I gave Ritz that option, she preferred laying on the carpet.  Also, you can wrap an ice pack in a towel and place it near the kittens.  Again, Ritz didn't like ice packs; she is a skittish cat and when the ice melts it makes noises.

Cats originated in Egypt; they are use to hot--though not necessarily humid--weather.

Good luck!

Yeah poor kitties....just panting.  But still have bursts of energy.  They, too, prefer the carpet to the kitchen  LOL  I hate to see kitties panting.  Our A/C will be out for the next 2 days until our part comes in.  Bah.  I'm melting!!  You'd think I'd be used to this, having grown up in a tropical country (Philippines), but then again, I've lived here almost 30 years  LOL.  Me <-- Spoiled

I would say run the cold water and stop up your sink and let them play around it they might like that( they might accidently fall in and cool off that way). My vats like windows and beds more than tile. Or at least tile. That is in sunlight. Just make sure you give hem play options that can cool them off

We survived :)  My hubby ended up spending time  in his car and he brought the kitties with him  LOL  He can't stand the heat.  But all is well, AC running well again.

When the drencho in Jule 2012 hit I lost power in my condo; it was over 100 in my condo.  No wind.

So the day after the drencho hit, I took Ritz to my twin sister's condo, where we stayed for three days.

Cats like it hot, but not that hot.

Glad you got back your AC.

Panting cats were distressing to me.  It got to around 90 in the house ,but it was also humid (I have a 125g fishtank that made things humid).  Even with fans on, though, they did not like the fan.
