How did my cat die?

I am so upset, my tom cat who I recently took to the vet for a bladder problem on a Friday was found dead that next Thursday. He acted normal, ate well, nothing out of the ordinary, I am just beside myself as I had seen him the night before. He is or I should say WAS an outdoor cat. There were no visible wounds of any kind on him when we found him. A little dirt on his tail end and his front arms stretched out, head cocked to the far side, very odd, could he have been dragging himself? I just wish I had some answers.

So sorry for your loss.  It could have been any number of things.  The position he was in does seem odd.  The life expectancy of outdoor cats, even a beloved pet, is so much shorter.  Tom's especially.  In a case like this, you may never find the answer.

So sorry for your loss of your cat. They are very special when your kids are out of the house. They are your babies.

I'm so sorry for your loss. My Milo passed very suddenly from a urinary issue. There's nothing we can do sometimes.

I'm sorry to hear you had to lose your kitty. It's hard enough to lose them, but even more so when you don't know what took them away. I had to put my female kitty to sleep late last year, and while a tumor was found in her lung (I assumed cancer), I still wonder if it was a bladder/urinary issue that may have been the final nail in the coffin. For a few days before she really went downhill, she was wetting outside her litter box and I honestly thought it was either old age or cancer making her incontinent, but I took her in to the vet and she was found to have a UTI and was given meds for it, but later that day, she got to a point where she couldn't lift her head, couldn't move at all, nothing.
.
Then she went into what I can only assume are seizures, which I have heard happens to some cats when they are approaching death. She twisted herself around so her front legs were in the air, and would stretch her front legs out and occasionally paw at the air. She also could not hold her head up at all. I don't know if she was in pain or not since she only meowed once when the seizing began. It was just her body shutting down.
.
It could be your kitty may have seized a bit prior to passing away (hence the head and foot positions), but there is no telling what caused him to die. It could have been a severe bladder issue, a quickly-worsening infection, or something totally spontaneous like a heart attack. It may or may not have been something he encountered outside. I wish I could tell you something for certain. :(

Ty for responding. I just sure miss him, wish I could have found him and ran him to the vet to see if they could have helped. I will always wonder what happened.

I am so sorry for your loss; I know it is hard when we don't know the reasons.  May you find comfort knowing that you did the best you could and that sometimes things are beyond our control.
