4 months have now passed since my cat mated , i can see that she has been eating alot , sleeping alot , her tummy is a little bit bigger and i guess she is about 4 kg . but they always tell you if a cat is pregnant her nipples will turn pink on i guess the 3rd or 4th week and they will become bigger and i guess the hair will lessen or something but they are small but some are pink and some have a white tip and she has alot of hair on her tummy . So can you tell me if she s pregnant ?

Well If u are positive she mated 4 mOnths ago and only then, she is not pregnant, bc cats are only pregnant 58-72 days. Normally around 64. If she has gotten out or been around other males she could have easily gotten pregnant later and it takes a while to notice. A vet could check her out and tell u if she has kittens, but sometimes even they can miss it. The only sure way is to wait and see if she gets bigger and the kittens begin moving. Good luck and keep up updated.

If you are sure she has NOT mated since this time 4 months ago, it may be some problems.

If so, I would recommend a visit to a vet. No crash emergency, but as soon you can practically manage it.  And no ambulatory vet having hours every tuesday evening at your local pet shop, but some decently equipped clinic.

If you think she could mated again - This ambulatory vet should be enough.   :)

Good luck!

Usually if a cat mates she gets pregnant.  They get pregnant very easily because it is the mating that induces the female to release eggs.    That's why there are so many homeless cats and kittens living outside feral or being killed at pounds.

It sounds like there is a good chance she is pregnant now.  .  A vet might be able to tell,  but at 4 wks it's in a stage where it is harder for a vet to tell for sure by feeling.

If you think she may be pregnant,  you should think seriously about things like the money and time involved in raising a litter properly (including keeping them to at least 10  weeks old,  not giving them away at 6 weeks which is not good for them in any way)

That means  extra high quality food,  including wet food,  for the mother during pregnancy and nursing,  then a  LOT of  kitten food and extra litter for the kittens,

plus they need vaccinations, deworming,  vet exam,    and  it's not impossible a kitten could have some health problem and need more vet visits.

Also you would need to have extra money available just  in case your cat had complications and needed a c-section ( which can be from around $900 - 2500 at an 24  hour emergency vet  in the States.  and I've heard amounts like £900 in the UK --  and cats do often have the kittens at  times when your regular vet may be closed) .  Normally cats  have a normal birth without problems.  but there are always exceptions.

Also you need to think can you take time to be with her when she has the kittens just in case she needs help?   And if your cat could not or would not feed them  ( for example if she became ill & the milk would make them sick,  or if she rejected them) , could you  be there to bottle feed them every 2 or 3 hours day and night for the first several weeks?

Can you really find good homes for them?  What if she has 8 kittens like someone else's cat on here recently?   If you can't find homes for them all can you keep them?

Just some things to think about.  IF you could not afford to care for them, or couldn't afford an emergency vet if needed,  or  if you would not be able to hand rear them if necessary,   it would be better to  get a spay now ( spay/ abort if she is pregnant) ,  than to be in a situation where your cat dies or kittens are suffering and dying because you can't take care of them.

We have them spayed so they don't have kittens, so they don't get pyometra or uterine cancer.

The world is overrun with unwanted kittens. Thousands are killed in shelters every year. There is no need for your cat, or any household pet to have kittens.

If she is not too far along, you can still have her spayed.

Spayed cats are much healthier and happier cats. :)

Goodness, it's more than thousands of cats/kittens being killed in shelters. It's millions (at least 3 million a year in the US, just in shelters alone. This isn't counting those who are killed on the streets or by someone who isn't a shelter worker)! Very sad :(. There are just not enough homes for all the kittens who are born. If your cat has kittens, you probably will not be able to find good homes for her kittens, and, if you do, they'll just be taking a home away from another kitten who needs a home. Really, the situation is terrible. So that's why we spay our cats. Also, they're much happier and healthier, and make better pets, when spayed.

And this is the most important answer for the cat itself and his owner.

Many thinks "that is in cats nature to have kittens" etc.

Not at all.  Once spayed / neutered, they dont miss it at all.  You as owner do notice it almost at once they are thriwing better neutered / spayed, enjoying life more, than before...
