Questions about my possibly pregnant cat?

Hi! I'm new here but I decided to jump right in with my questions. I hope that's okay...
I have several cats but one, a petit little calico girl creatively named Callie ;) is scaring me half to death. I think she might be pregnant!
She was supposedly fixed along with her brother (who is definitely fixed) when they were under 3 months but now that she's over a year old her nipples are pinking up and I feel little marbles in her belly. (I raise and breed rabbits so I can feel little babies in smaller mammals).
I didn't say anything to my family but today my dad picked her up and said I think this cat is pregnant. I nearly screamed and stomped on the ground but I then found this wonderful website and everything is a bit better!
Because she is an outside cat, a stray could've come up and bred her at any time so I have no idea who the father is.
I actually just wrote this big long post to make sure I understood the gestation. 9 ish weeks with nipples pinking at 3-5 weeks. I think she's closer to 5 weeks because I can feel the little babies and she had morning sickness (which I took as just a tummy ache) two weeks ago. With this in mind she probably has another 4 ish weeks, right?
Thanks for all your help (sorry about that essay if a post!)

I can't imagine the vet missed everything when she was supposedly spayed! Was she living with you at the time, or are you taking someone's word for it being done?

Plus, if she's nearly a year old she should have gotten pregnant before now since she's outside. Most cats go into first heat about 5-6 months and then again around 9 months if they didn't get pregnant the first time. So I'm kind of thinking something else is going on.

If she is pregnant, the vet who was supposed to have spayed her sure has some 'splaining to do ;). Better give them a call---some will offer to alter the kittens for free if it was their mistake that caused the pregnancy.

But yeah, your timetable seems about right.

They pink up at 3 weeks - day 20-22 thereabout. At 5 months you can usually feel them.

At about 2 weeks left you can feel them move (if you are good at palpating perhaps some days earlier).

Delivery at about 65 day, although it is more common with some day extra than shorter.

Which is good, kittens dont manage well premature birth, but late birth dont seem to be dangerous.

I agree - contact this vet in question, and hear 1. What happened really 2. Their opinion.   IF she was spayed, it may perhaps be false pregnancy?

Good luck!

She is going to the vet early next week and they said that it could be possible because sometimes they only tie off on uterun horn on accident.
I thought about how she had to have gotten pregnant before if she really isn't spayed, but I was so ticked off I really didn't care! She is the sweetest little cat and she normally stays right near the house; we actually used to lock them up at night because of owls and stray dogs, but she still could've gotten pregnant during the day.
I actually think she had morning sickness a 2ish weeks ago because she threw up several times over one weekend.
Well, thanks for your help! I will probably tell you what happens at the vet...there might be some angry shouting! ;).

Oh and she was living with me at the time. I have had her and her brother since they were 8 weeks old. They were in a free kitten box in front of a feed store, so I had to rescue them. My neighbor coincidentally ended up with their 2 other sisters!

Well, I suppose it depends on how your vet does spays. . .almost all vets in the US completely remove everything. Uterus, ovaries, everything. So if they missed one thing, she still couldn't get pregnant. If your vet only ties stuff off, I guess she could get pregnant, but why any vet would do it that way on a cat I have NO idea. She would still go into heat if her ovaries weren't fully removed, and that's half the reason most people have their cats spayed! A cat in heat is not easy to live with :tongue2:.

Let us know how it goes!

So I just talked to the vet and he said that they do an oval hysterectomy, but there's a possibility something didn't happen correctly so we are taking her in after the holidays. I'm super worried but maybe it will be good news!

Ovariohysterectomy ;). That means both ovaries and uterus--the usual way it's done in the US.

The only thing I could see going wrong is if he got distracted and forgot to take anything out. This can happen in a high-volume situation (like a low-cost spay clinic) but rarely happens with private vets, because they generally only do one or two at a time and really should be able to keep count of body parts :/. I wouldn't want to have to admit to something like that if I were a vet :tongue2:. I hope he makes it right if he did do something wrong.

I will say that I picked up a stray once who I was SURE was heavily pregnant. I thought I could feel the babies and everything. Waited a few weeks and no change. The vet said he couldn't feel anything. Gave her a de-wormer and spayed her the next week. She's still got a tummy, I guess some girls just carry their weight in the belly :lol3:.

Oops! I was pretty sure I pronounced it wrong....
Maybe Cal just has a tummy but she's fairly thin (not skinny just toned) everywhere else. My vet did sound a bit embarrassed and apologetic, but he said he would fix the problem!
I just wanted to say thanks for this lovely forum and website too! I'm on several other forums (one for dairy cows because we have a family dairy cow) and those people are just plain mean and condescending! You guys are really nice like breath of freak air compared to those stuck up cow people! ;). Thanks again!!!

So Callie is getting seen on like Tuesday...if I remember correctly! ;)
Here is a link to some pictures of her taken today. Are her nipples pinking?
(Just click the forwards arrow to see some pictures of her body)
Over the weekend her little belly has grown a whole lot which is really worrisome. If it isn't babied then it could be way worse. Right now we are hoping for babies other than the alternative of cancer or a tumour or something else.
