First of all, my 2 cats who are brother and sister are the mom and dad, will there be any deformities on the cats and will there health be normal? We didnt mean for this to happen, our local animal shelter has a long list of cats on the spay/neuter list, so if your name comes up they call you and if you miss the appointment, your name will go on the end of the list so you will probably never get called again lol. So when our name pops up BAM macy my cat get pregnant with my male Leo. So I need to know 2 things:

1: will there be any deformities on the kittens since it was a brother and sister mating

                                                      AND

2: what to do since this is the first time i have ever had a pregnant cat

With a little luck there will not be any deformities, or just very small without practical consequences.

How long gone is the pregnancy? If not long, you perhaps want to spay / abort anyway?

Here are some links to read, which I stole shamelessly from my collegues.

Good luck!

Macy has been pregnant for about 60 days so I think it's to late to spay her now, I can feel about 4 little things in her belly, does that mean she's almost there?

When you feel them move, it is about 2 weeks left.

The last days before delivery, they move down into position, and you feel less of their movements.

But as you are sure it is about 60 days, so perhaps one week left.

The exact hour is pure waiting game.

Yes, I agree, way to late to think now about abortion - unless really desperate. Which you are not.   :)

I didnt noticed in the title she is due soon.

I just mentioned the possibility, many dont even know it is possible.

Good luck!

thanks StefanZ, also, when the kittens do come out, what do i feed them, or do they just have Macy's milk? Also, between 1-10, how much would you rate the possibility of getting a deformed kitten because a brother and sister are the mom and dad?

There is actually very little for you to do except monitor Macy and make sure she does not get into distress. No, you do not need to feed them, all they need is mom.

Be sure to have her a good nesting spot that is safe for her and the kittens. You can purchase a food scale to weigh the kittens each day. They should gain *some* weight each day. This can help determine if any of the kittens need to be supplemented.

Agree with SavingPaws.  You take care of the mom, and she takes care of the kittens.  Normally it is enough.

You step in first if you notice difficulties, say one is very little, or they dont gain enough.

Weighting them every day is a good way to notice if there is something not good. Weighting them every day you also have a quick look see.

So for example, you can notice if they have fleas, which a couple of our forumists did.

And at least one didnt noticed because he believed in the old tale you shall not touch the kittens. The whole litter was eaten alive by fleas, him not noticing anything before it was over...

As said, with any luck there shall not be visible genetic damages, although the risk increases.  I cant say nor promise more.

Good luck!

Was the male neutered when your name came up? If not, keep him separated from the female after she gives birth---cats can get pregnant again very soon after having kittens. Keep him separate until a month after he's neutered (sometimes sperm is retained in the tubes) or until she's spayed. If you keep any kittens, get them on the spay/neuter list right away because they can start mating with each other/their parents as early as 4 months.

There's no way to know in advance if the kittens will have any genetic defects from the inbreeding. This depends what genes your cats are carrying, which ones they have in common, that kind of thing. It also depends on the level of inbreeding that's been going on in previous generations, but I'm sure you don't know any of that kind of info. Hopefully they'll all come out OK! Post pics!
