Hi! Not sure if this is in the right spot, but I have a few questions about my new rescue cat! I have her using a litterbox, but since I am not always here with her how can I make sure she has not urinated anywhere else in the house? I saw some blacklight UV at pet smart that picks up cat urine but wasn't sure if it was legit? Also, how do you guys keep your house smelling fresh even though there is a litterbox? I clean it out twice and I have a good many air freshners around, but I am SUCH a clean freak I want my home to smell like there is no litterbox! Last two questions, dry or wet cat food for my indoor cat? I usually free feed her dry and only feed her a can of wet at night time; is that right or should I try something different? Lastly, Maggie meows SO much. Literally, non stop. Is this just her or is it a common thing for cats? It's been so so long since I had a cat, all the help I can get I truly appreciate! Thanks yall!

Hello maggiecat and welcome to TCS!

Lots of questions!

I'll answer them simply then suggest where you can go for more:
  1. You'll know really quickly whether she's urinating in other places because it will smell!   Here's some articles on the subject:  http://www.thecatsite.com/a/litter-box-maintenance      http://www.thecatsite.com/a/combat-cat-urine
  2. A lot of people on TCS advocate wet food over dry.  If you are really keen on very low smell and a healthy cat, then there are many people who can help you transition to a raw diet.  Here's some info:  http://www.thecatsite.com/a/raw-feeding-for-cats   and if you want to read other threads or ask a question go to:  http://www.thecatsite.com/f/64/cat-nutrition
  3. You don't say how old she is.  Some cats are just really talkative.  Maybe she wants you to play with her, or feed her or she wants a cuddle, or all of the above
Make sure she has lots to keep her amused.
Good luck researching your questions.
