Someone needs to talk me down...lol... I'm hardly sleeping I'm so excited/nervous for our foster kitty "Missy" to have her babies. She's been off the streets for exactly 62 days, she's absolutely huge and showing next to no signs of impending labour. Still eating... still chillin' out... she can't even really lick herself since she's so tiny and she's so rotund. When she tries she often ends up losing her balance and rolling onto her back and slightly turtles there for a minute. She's likely been a mom a number of times since her nipples are all chewed up... in fact I'm fairly sure the bottom two have been chewed OFF. Yep.

Alright people, some camaraderie would be nice right around now!

First things first, are you prepared for the extra money you will be paying and are you ready for the cat to give birth?

Make sure you have a nice quiet room for the cat to give birth, for example, a laundry room or a bathroom. Also, put the cats favorite bed with some blankets in the room to make her feel comfy. Another thing to think about, keep your cat calm and make sure she is not stressed out because a stressed pregnant cat is the last thing you want because it can make her tense and not let the kittens nurse and all that. Make sure to feed her a lot extra cat food and that she ALWAYS has water. keep the sound volume as low as possible when around her so she does not get worried or scared or concerned.

    GOOD LUCK

Oh we're very prepared... have been for so long that I'm really ready for her to have these babies. She has her own room with several nesting spots and is on performatrin ultra grain-free like the rest of our cats. I had been giving her wet food but but she's been refusing to eat it for the last few days.

Does anyone know if the fact that her bottom two nipples are gone will affect anything? I'm a bit worried she might end up with a clogged duct/mastitis. Is there any way for her to nurse with them? There's barely a nub on one nipple and the other is totally flat. Will those nipples dry up even though the others are being used?

Basically I have a kitty spa... I'm laid up with a busted PCL so I just ice my knee and give her pets all day, help clean her bottom, sing to her, paint her nails (kidding, kidding). I'm going a little nuts from the not being able to walk and the waiting for the labour.

Oh good grief! I'm in her room now (typing on my tablet) and Missy is panting and breathing extremely quickly. She hisses slightly at the beginning of what I can assume is a mild contraction... and she's doing this all the while scarfing as much food into her gut as she can in between contractions... silly girl.

Looks like we might see kittens sometime in the next day or so! *happy dance*

Well, not only are they not here yet... if I had to hazard a guess I'd say she's stalled. Doh! She seems very normal this morning and isn't panting any more. Still doing some hardcore nestin prep though!

I'm going through the exact same thing. I know Molly is due, she has had milk around 6 days, movement in kittens 3 weeks, shes huge, but she just eats and sleeps ALL day and night. My vet thinks she is nervous and holding off her labor, I'm so tired of waiting, but really hve no other choice.

If her nipples are rosy red, big, and swelling then she close to giving birth. Remember when she does give birth she supposed to bleed a little so don't panic when that happens. Also if you can feel the kittens moving in her belly, then she will give birth close to 2 weeks from now. Hope she has a safe delivery!!!!!
