I just got my diploma as a Business Office Specialist. Lately, I've been thinking about going back to further my education and go for the degree. I think it would be an Associate in Applied Technology Degree in Administrative Office Technology. I would have to take about 10 more classes, and since I only take about two at a time (so I won't overload myself) it would take a little over a year. I just don't know if I should go for it or not. I will probably know by the end of the day, because I am going to the school today at 1:00 to talk to my advisor about it. I have to see if my scores are good enough for it. If they are, what do you think I should do?

I think you have to know in your heart what you want to do . If you think you can make the school and really would like doing that , well then go for it . But if you can't see yourself doing that in your life , well maybe then that is not your calling in your life . I know it is not much help . But really only you can answer that . Good luck

My personal feeling is that you can't go wrong with education. If you can manage it (financially, time-wise, etc.) and you want to do it, what's the downside?

If you really want it bad enough then you'll continue with your education! Education is a good thing and to keep trying to further it is even better!

Good Luck!

I think you should go for it! I'm thinking about doing the same thing and going back to school. I figure if I don't, I'll be in the same situation in 5 years that I am today.

I talked to my advisor today. The HOPE scholarship does not cover degree programs. I can't afford to pay. I would still have the Federal Pell grant, but I don't know if it would cover everything or not. So far with the Business Office Diploma program, I haven't had to pay anything. The scholarships took care of it. I talked to 3 or 4 different people today about this degree thing. They make everything sound so complicated. I also found out that there are 3 extra math classes that I would have to take. I really do like taking classes and I would like to go back, but I just don't know if it's worth all of this trouble.

Thanks everybody. I'm going to have to really think hard about this. I just hope that I make the right decision. Thanks for all of the great advice.
