I did a load of light-colored laundry last night, so I wanted to put our tablecloth in the washer, too. I had to get everything off the table (including, Mollipop, Tabby and Muffin who were sitting there watching Rick get their dinner ready) and we had gotten a catalog in the mail yesterday. It was all about curtains, drapes, and such and I wanted to look through it later. Put the load of laundry in the washer and started making dinner. (Can you see where this is going?)
After cleaning the kitchen, I decided to sit down for a couple minutes and look at the catalog before going out for my walk. And couldn't find that catalog anywhere. Rick and I kept looking through the kitchen and it just wasn't there. And then it hit me.....awwwwww, no, no, no.
Ran down to the basement, opened the washer and.....the laundry was covered (covered, I tell you) in shreds of catalog paper. When I took the tablecloth off the table, I must have included the catalog and it all got washed. We had to take the basket of laundry outside and shake each piece out, then turn it right side out and shake it again. It looked like it was snowing in the back yard. We got what we could, then put it all in the dryer. I set the timer for 20 minutes, then went back down and cleaned out the dryer filter as best I could....and it was just packed with paper shreds. Set the timer for another 15 minutes and let it go. Cleaned out the dryer filter again and it was packed.
The dryer's tumbling got rid of most of the paper and I took a pet tape brush to the clothing as I folded. I think it took me about three hours til I got it all cleaned out. And, other than my walk, that was pretty much all I managed to get done last night.
I cannot believe I did something so stupid. (Although one time I did wash Rick's paycheck.....he was not amused because he had to go into work to request another check. But in fairness to me, he's the one who put his jeans in the laundry basket, so I assumed he had checked the pockets.)
