Hi there and welcome to TCS!

I am not sure if I am understanding this but the link you posted is about your cat who has an infected gash on her leg? It would be more helpful if you would write your question rather than providing a link.

From the information provided in the link you state your cat has had an xray and the vey has sent you home with both a topical and oral antibiotic. How long since the vet trip? It will take a while for the antibiotics to kick in. You say she is licking the topical off so you should really get a cone to prevent this to give the wound time to heal. You should be able to pick one up at the vet and they are not expensive.

Sorry, didn't feel like typing all that twice.

My question was does the wound sound infected. It seems redder then it was yesterday. Mom is a stubborn loon, says the cat didn't like the cone so she didn't use it. She's yelling at me even now. All of a sudden I'm responsible for her high blood pressure (who's responsible for mine???). I'm really out of options at this moment.

It will take more than a day for the antibiotics to work but it is important the topical cream get absorbed to help with the infection. It is also not safe for her to be ingesting the cream which could cause more issues. I am not sure what is wrong with your mother but the cone with help in this situation since the cat is licking the topical cream so it can't work properly. I am sure she doesn't want to pay for more vet treatment so she should just let you put the cone on.

persoanlly I can't see using it either. When I first saw it sitting there, I thought it went around her hips. This kitten sort of leans on her side. She'd be absolutely miserable trying to hold her head up with that thing. Maybe we just need to do it.

Sorry to vent on you. This woman blames me for everything including WW1. It gets frustrating.

Does the redness seem to indicate it's getting worse?

You don't have to have the collar on 24/7 just so she doesn't lick the cream off or lick the wound. The collar goes around the neck. I am not sure where the cut is located on the  but you could also try using a shirt or a baby onesie to cover up the wound so she will not lick it. You could also wrap it with gauze. The main thing is you want the antibiotic cream to absorb and prevent her from licking the wound so it can heal. The redness is not a great sign but like I said it takes more than one day for the antibiotics to work and she has been licking it so that will make it worse as well.

Here's the interesting part. She's been applying that cream since it happened 1 week ago today.
Wwhat would make sense is a collar that goes around her belly. Like a tutu. O gof I'm so stressed.
