Chloe is my first cat. She's 5 months old. I was always afraid of kittens from when I was little.. A kitten scratched me. Getting her was the best thing I've ever done! I am so in love with her and I think I'm becoming a cat lady. We want to get another kitten, but since I have no clue, I was wondering if it would be better to get a male or a female.

Hi there! Welcome! (and another Long Islander, too!) Is that her in your avatar? Beautiful!

Another kitten would be a wonderful playmate to Chloe! I'd suggest getting a kitten that fits her personality and about her age. Male or female makes no difference IMO.

Hi, welcome to TCS!  I agree with Draco; at that age, Chloe will love whoever you chose as a friend.  (There may be a little bit of hissing and such at first, but they'll be best buds soon enough.)

Town of Oyster Bay is waiving their pet adoption fees in September. You should check them out for a kitten for Chloe :)

Hi Welcome to the site. I am so happy for you that you have discovered life with cats.
I agree with everyone else, a little play mate would be great and you get even more laughs and enjoyment watching them play together:)  You don't mention whether Chloe has been spayed yet, but if you do go for a little boy make sure that they have both been spayed/neutered before you put them together or you could find yourself with rather more little cats than you intended.   Enjoy, and I look forward to hearing whether you are successful in adding to your little family.
