Daisy, one of my first kitties in my current group of 4 passed on last night. She'd been unwell for some time. She'd eat & drink very little. Money has been tight. Unfortunately, I delayed getting her to the vet. this past Saturday I finally took her in. The vet suggested forced feeding & a saline drip which I had to administer at home. She simply did not respond positively & took a severe turn for the worse Sunday. Administering the treatments (forced feeding & saline drip) was like torture. She was severely stressed when I did it. She became weaker & weaker each time I did it.

I left her alone last night, fearing the worse. I take comfort in the fact that I DID take the time to lay next to her & talk quietly to her about how much I love her, how beautiful she is, how much she means to me, & the place she has in my heart. When I got up in the morning she was gone.

The thing that will LIVE in my memory along with all the joyful memories I have of her, is the position I found her in. She was laying on her side & had raised her head & tail. She looked like she was runing in the sun :-) She even seemed to have a smile on her face. I love her deeply. I HURT badly. but try to keep my mind on the love & GREAT memories she has given me. She was only seven years old but she gave me 7 years of joy & love.

She is survived by her 3 sisters, Lily (a littermate), Sweetie, & Savannah. I love them all deeply but now there is a hole in the picture & in my heart.

I'm sorry.  She passed knowing she was loved, and that is a gift you gave her.

Daisy has gone to the Rainbow Bridge where the sun always shines brightly and there are so many fields and meadows for her to run in.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thanks so much! I hope & pray she knew how much I love her. I find joy in the fact that she is free to run in the sun. I appreciate the kindness that you all have shown here!

My condolences on your loss of Daisy. What a great mental image - running in the sun with a smile on her face. RIP, Daisy.

Once again thank you all for your kind words of support & caring. It means so much to know there are people out there who care!

There has been a development. Daisy has been gone for a little over a week. Just yesterday a stray made an appearance in my backyard. She is a gray, stripped tabby. She is quite skittish & wary of me. She seemed to appreciate that I provided her with food, water, & company. She was out there when I went out early in the morning. She stayed all day and was still present when I came in just after sunset. I will continue to feed her in hopes that she will become acclimated to me. I'd like to take her to the vet asap to be spayed, get shots, & a check up. If all goes well I will take her in with Daisy's sisters (Lily, Sweetie, & Savannah.)

Of course, There's no way she can replace Daisy but it would be my joy to provide a loving sanctuary for her.

Back in August of 2013, Daisy, a beloved member of my fur family crossed the Rainbow Bridge. It's been a while since I've been back here. Just busy with life. I mentioned in subsequent posts that there was a new kitty in the backyard who appeared just after Daisy's passing. Unfortunately I was not able to capture & keep her (but I was able to get her spayed) She'd had kittens. One of which I was able to catch, neuter, & adopt into the family. Also, I've adopted 2 dogs who thankfully get along just fine with the (4) cats. So indeed life goes on but not without LOVING memories of my sweet girl Daisy.

I've been meaning to come back and post pictures of a little memorial I set up in the backyard in memory of my sweet girl Daisy. So, here they are. Everyday I go out there & see this I remember my girl & say a little prayer hoping she's still romping & playing joyfully just across the bridge,

What a beautiful memorial! So nice that you were able to spay that new kitty and adopt one of her kittens and two dogs. RIP Daisy.

You have such a big heart to help so many in need, I pray you are blessed for your kindness.  Daisy was that one special kitty that captured your heart and bonded with your soul. The memorial you established for her is beautiful, a tribute to such a sweet member of your little family. I'm so happy you can fill your heart with joy once again, I'm sure your little girl welcomes it, as that is where she resides now, secure in your love and bringing you comfort in your precious memories. We never forget those who meant so much, but they truly never leave us, it is a bond that will never be broken. I'm sure that over these years Daisy is indeed resting in peace, and though she is missed dearly by her family, she knows she is forever held in loving hearts!
