My cat is about 11 months old, and has been on the same diet for about 6 months, but all of a sudden she has gotten sick. She has vomited 3 times in the last three days and has had diarreah for the past 3 days. Also she is litter trained but she has been doing her buisness (which is diarreah) on the floor throughout my apartment.
Any advice on what I could do to help her? Im verry worried.

She needs to go to the vet as soon as possible.  She's not using the box because she can't get to it quick enough or she's associating the box with a bad thing (either pain or discomfort).  You might try putting her into a spare room or bathroom to contain her and keep her closer to the box.  Be sure to clean the spots where she's pooped with enzymatic cleaner.

Have you opened a new bag of dry food or changed the flavor of canned food?  Is she able to get into any plants or cleaners?

No, I've kept her on the same food because she seems to have a very sensitive stomach. The brand I feed her is fancy feast and she hasn't had a problem until now. But also until about a week ago she has been an indoor cat but lately I've been putting her outside while I attend school. She has fresh water every day and a small bowl of dry cat food. Then of a night usually one 85gram tin of wet cat food. Although occasionally I do change the flavor of wet food, should I stay on the same flavor? Also I did open a new bag of dry food about five days ago? No she cant get into any cleaning products. Im just worried maybe she is eating the neighbors cat food as they feed their cats outside of a day. I just have no idea how to help her. :(

I've just read some people think fancy feast cat food is bad, I'd be open to try her on a different brand if there are any suggestions? It wouldn't matter how expensive it was I would just want the best, healthiest food possible for her.

I'm no expert but first off you need to take your cat to vet immediately, as Stephanie said. And letting your cat out to roam puts her at risk of ingesting God knows what, & contracting parasites along with it! Please, please keep your cat indoors at all times, for her health & safety. Hope you've got a vet appt. already set, too!

I'm wondering if the dry food has been reformulated and now she can't tolerate it.  That has happened to my cats previously and it's frustrating as all get out!  Also, she could've gotten into something outside.  Please keep her inside at all times as that's the safest and most secure place for her to be.  She'll be fine at home alone (she'll probably sleep the whole time) while you're gone.  Until her system settles down and you figure out what's going on, I would keep her on a chicken or turkey food.  Don't change brands as that might cause an adverse reaction as well.  Also, it's likely that she's picked up some kind of parasites being outside, so a vet trip is definitely in order to rule out worms of any kind.

Hi there,

I agree that a vet trip is in order. It sounds like she may have picked up something outside or have developed an intolerance to something in her food. At the vet you should get her tested for parasites,  coccidia and giardia. For the vomiting I really recommend getting cerenia from the vet which is a great anti- nausea medication. If she is not eating ask the vet about cyproheptadine which is an appetite stimulant.

What kind of dry are you feeding her? Cats are obligate carnivors and really do best on a meat diet without grains.

Here is a good video on cats and vomiting

The fancy feast classic pate flavours are not bad foods and I would recommend staying away from the fish flavours. I would ditch the dry food and just stick with the wet. A good site to read on feline nutrition is www.catinfo.org

For now the best thing to feed is a bland diet of just boiled chicken.
