I've been feeding the pregnant mother in the cat carrier with the intention of catching her when I was ready and taking her to the animal care center so that she can have her kits in safety. today I got her.............and then she got away after my youngest child couldn't leave well enough alone and caused her cage to be flooded. I opened it, and held mom to dump the water out, and mom took off.

I hope I can convince her back into the carrier again before she has her kittens, because she's covered in fleas, and likely has all the same parasites little Midnight did. I'm worried because she's got some blood on her back side, and might be 'ready to go'

Well, the good news is, she came back, and went back into the carrier for her very next feeding. No hesitiation. and didn't panic when I shut the door to behind her(I didn't lock it this time)

the bad news is that Animal care center is closed now and I can't catch her until at least Monday. This worries me, because if she has those kittens, I'll have to catch them all, and probably one at a time.....but there's nothing I can do about it, because it's too cold at night for me to catch her and keep her in the shed, and she's too hostile to other cats (not to mention flea infested) for me to catch her and bring her in the house. Midnight(the stray I brought in last week) has the only room in the house that I could have used to isolate a cat....and the two of them don't get along AT ALL. they may be of the same colony, but I'm sure Midnight was cut out just before I took him in.....This mother is not nice to him at all, and neither was his own father last time I saw them meet...even though I regularly see her with the other, female kittens of his litter
