Luna & Midnight's Gotcha Week!

I got Luna on August 21, 2010, she was 12 weeks old at the time. She was thrown out from a truck on the highway in front of us. Luckily she was in some kind of carrier. Looked more like a child's toy. That seemed to help prevent her from serious injuries. She was so dirty, we thought we had a brown cat. She was covered in fleas, upon fleas upon fleas. Never saw so many fleas in my life, all over her stomach. She was starving & her fur wasn't as long. A few weeks later her fur was shiny & she put on some weight. It took her a long time to trust us. She would hide from us. If she was in the windows and someone walked down the street, she would run & hide for a long time. If she was in the window and a truck went by, she'd run & hide. Even now she hides when she hears the garbage trucks. If we made any sudden movements, or raised our voices she would back up and shake. She didn't like being patted and hated being held. She spent most of her time hiding from us. Took her a very long time to come out and be with us & be a part of our days/nights. She does let me pat her now. She even comes over to be patted. But she still hates being held. She will let me hold a little longer each time though. She loves being outside. I keep her in her stroller when she's outside, so she's safe. Luna is a very talkative cat.
I got Midnight on August 24, 2010. At the time my 9 year old cat Lynxx didn't like Luna. Luna loved him, kept trying to cuddle & play with him. So we figured if we got a kitten Luna's age, they'd play together and leave Lynxx alone. My mother's friend found Midnight outside her house. She wasn't going to keep. She knew we were looking for a kitten for Luna. She offered him to us. Of course when we first saw him, there was no way we were going to say no. He was so tiny he fit in the palms of our hands. He stood ankle high. He was a little ball of fur with eyes. Back then all he did was purr. The only time he stopped purring was when he slept. That was hardly ever. Every time I checked on him, even in the middle of the night he was up playing with his toys. He had to stay locked in my bedroom until he grew a bit. Because we were so worried he'd get stepped on or something would happen to him. We found out from his original owner that he was 3 weeks old when we got him. He was only 1 pound 1 ounce. Now he's 12 pounds! Also learned his real birthday August 3, 2010. He loves Da Bird. We play with it each morning and night. That's his favorite toy. He's ok with Luna but he's not a fan of other cats. Like Luna, he'll hide if someone new comes over, and usually they won't come out until the guests are gone. He loves being patted & would let me hold him all day and night if I could!

Once in awhile Luna & Midnight will sleep together. But it always ends with them fighting, usually the fight is started by Midnight.
Here's a picture of the 3 cats together. As you can see by looking at Lynxx, he wasn't happy with the 2 kittens. To bad, because they both liked him and both of them were sad when Lynxx died a couple of months later.

Those are great "before" and "after" pictures! I love Midnight's fluffy tail.

Unfortunately, I'm late, too. Happy late Gotcha Day Luna and Midnight! I actually got Wessie on August 25 in 2008, so their Gotcha Days are very close together.

I love the photographs, and enjoyed reading about the way you acquired them again.

I'm late too - but what fabulous before and after pictures! My goodness, they are so big now! But WOW, they're both so gorgeous!

The picture with Lynxx is so very sweet.
