I'm in total shock!

I went to renew my driver license today and got the shock of my life! I gave the lady my license, she keyed in my number, looked up at me and told me, "Your license has been suspended for 3 years!" I freaked out! I just couldn't believe it.

Apparently it had to do with a speeding ticket I got in 2000 in Wymomming. I was trying to fight it without going back to Wyomming and finally got a letter back from them saying I had to appear in person if I wanted to fight it. They also said I had to pay it or my license would be suspended. So I sent the money right off. I got a letter a month or so later saying they payment had been received and I was clear. I never thought about it again.... until today!

In fact I've been stopped several times since (Rashid wouldn't wear seatbelt, my car breaking down on freeway etc.) and the police didn't catch it.

Now I have to pay a reinstatement fee along with the renewal fee and I never even knew my license was suspended! Aaaaarrrrgggghhhh!!!

I am sending you {{{{hugs}}}}. I know how frustrating that kind of thing can be.

Leave it to Wyoming! (Hubby was stationed in Wyoming when he was in the military...)

Why should you have to pay extra to reinstate your license if it was their error? You have proof you paid - the letter they sent you, right?

I'm looking for the letter right now. They said they know it's paid. But Wyoming suspended it the same day I paid it. They suspended it in the morning and supposedly got my payment after. It's such a pain in the arse.

Well Sicy... that was the first ticket I ever got in 27 years of driving! It's actually kind of funny at the same time as being frustrating! The DMV was very understanding and they even gave me my license back! I thought for sure they'd confiscate it!

My attorney, me, WalMart claims and Daewoo all have a meeting together Thursday. My attorney told them all that a decission needs to be made then, who is going to fix my car. They just keep blaming each other back and forth.

And the worst thing is, Wyoming will never admit that they made the mistake.

I know... Wyoming sucks (at least law enforcement!) The freak that stopped me said I was going over 90 miles/hr. NOT!! I was driving my little '88 Toyota Cressida (that wouldn't go that fast). Also it was a high wind warning day and my little flintstone mobile was being whipped all over. That's why originally I wanted to fight it but they said I had to come back to Wyoming. It was cheaper just to pay the damn thing. And look what I got 3 years later! SUPRISE!!!
