I took her to the vet and they told me that she had probably 2 to 3 more weeks left. But now she is acting like she is in heat and even making the call, is this normal?

Hi Kris and welcome to TCS!

I actually answered your earlier post but for some reason it did not show up???   Then later  I saw you deleted what you had written in that one.   which was more details :  you also mentioned  getting an X-ray and did not see any skeletons.       but  I don't think you said in that one what you said here about the vet estimating 2 to 3 weeks left in the pregnancy.

I'm going to paste what I wrote there   and edit it some  and will ask a moderator to delete the old thread.

OK,  it's  weird  but it DOES happen sometimes that a pregnant cat shows symptoms of heat even though she is really pregnant  , and then goes on to have the kittens fine.    ( but  it's an extra reason to make sure to get her spayed when they're about 8 or 9 weeks old,  since it is possible she's got something like ovarian cysts causing this. )

Just  make absolutely sure you keep her inside!   you don't want her out running around and possibly getting hurt,  getting an infection or disease that could harm her and the kittens,   or even ending up pregnant with 2 litters at once.  which is not common,  but it is not impossible and it would be not be good for the cat or the kittens.

I would keep 2 doors between her and the outside!

But .........    I should also mention a couple other possibilities .

One is a false pregnancy.   which can last anywhere from about 3 to 7 weeks. That happens if she ovulates but there is no fertilization --for example if she mated with an infertile tom.     But if the vet was experienced at feeling for kittens,   he / she was probably right .

Another possible explanation  is  that if a cat is pregnant and then   the embryos / fetuses die,   then her estrus cycle just starts up again.    IF that happens  earlier in pregnancy,  the cat s body can just re-absorb the embryonic tissue .

Later on once the skeletons have hardened,  that is impossible to reabsorb .   so  there would normally be a "spontaneous abortion" ( miscarriage)  with the dead fetus being expelled   . ( If that does not happen  and they stay inside decomposing  she can get very ill!      But just keep an eye on her  and if she starts seeming sick,  hot,  or has a foul smelling discharge,  get her back to the vet

RADIOGRAPHY ( X RAYS)

It would have been normal not to see skeletons on an X-ray IF  it was done before the calcification of the skeletons  .  That would be at LEAST 40-45 days into the pregnancy .  but  I think sometimes you can't really see the skeletons until even  after 55 days.     So if she had 3 weeks to go it's not that surprising you didn't see anything,   and that by itself would not mean anything wrong.

If you want to be more certain you could get an ultrasound.   Of course i know that's more expensive.   .

Can you feel them moving?  ( If you can't, that is not definitely a sign there're anything wrong.    In the last few weeks it can get so crowded in there that they can hardly move! )

Thanks I can't feel anything moving but then again she is not to keen with me touching her belly for that long. This is her first litter and she got out on accident my roommate left her window open with no screen in it and she wiggled her way out. After she has them she is getting spayed as soon as she can. I will be keeping an eye on her and will probably be making another vet appointment within the next week

I was reading on someone else's post and she was positive her cat was pregnant and she took her to the vet who told her she had around 3 weeks left and had given the cat a shot for infection, well 4 weeks later, she found out the cat had reabsorbed the kittens and then her cat had went into heat and got pregnant again right after. It was crazy bc she kept waitin for her cat to deliver and there were lots of symptoms, but I think it was b the cat was actually on her 2nd pregnancy and around 4 weeks. The vet couldn't even tell she was pregnant again until a little later. She thought it was a sign of labor when the cat was actually in heat.
