My cat is pregnant I had it confirmed by my vet but she is acting like she is in heat, I don't know if this is normal, I also don't know how far along she is. She is showing, the vet could feel them but couldn't see any skeletons when she took an x-ray. Help please. .

Hi Kris and welcome to TCS!

It's weird  but it DOES happen sometimes that a pregnant cat shows symptoms of heat even though she is still pregnant  , and then goes on to have the kittens.   So it may be that everything's normal.    just  make sure you keep her in!

But it can also be because something happened to end the pregnancy,  so then her estrus cycle just started up again.

.  IF that happens very early in pregnancy,  the cats body can just re-absorb the tissue from the embryos.

Later on there would normally be a "spontaneous abortion" ( miscarriage)  with the dead fetus being expelled   .  If that does not happen  she can get very sick if it is decomposing in her.

It would have been normal not to see skeletons on an X-ray IF it was done before the calcification of the skeleton  .  That would be at about 40-45 days into the pregnancy .

But if the cat had been pregnant for longer,  especially  50+ days at the time of the X-rays,   and neither you nor the vet could see any  spines and skulls .  that does not sound normal.   and could be a sign something went wrong.

Is  there   a way you could  try to figure out if it might have been before or after  45 days?

Was the X ray done  at the same vet visit that the vet felt the kittens by palpation,    or had the vet already felt them several weeks earlier?     Did the vet say how big the kittens were or how far along he thought she was?

Thank I'm hoping everything is good and this is just normal the vet felt the kittens same time she did the x-ray and placed her at having probably 3 to 4 weeks to go and that was just a week ago. She still looks very pregnant she is very round on the sides and her belly is still very firm to the touch. I have noticed when u start to pet her she stops her crying unless u touch her tail, butt area or belly.
