Had lunch with a former co-worker today.  At least that was what we'd planned.  About an hour before I left, she called, in tears.  She takes a walk around the neighborhood at work every morning and had seen a beautiful, crossed-eyed calico cat.  The cat would allow my friend to pick her up but would not let her take her past a certain spot.  But she had begun waiting for my friend and was there every morning.

Today, my friend noticed she looked hurt and called me.  We spent about an hour walking the neighborhood, asking if anyone could identify the cat.  Turns out one of the neighbors is the sister of another former co-worker and has a colony there.  She told us it was a new cat and most likely had been dumped.  It's apparently a popular dumping place in the town.  Soooo - guess who is in my foster room?

The good news is, we may be able to find her a home through Siamese rescue.  She's being spayed next week and will be given her vaccinations.  I've given her Revolution and will deworm her a little later.

She's sweet, friendly and in pretty good shape.  Turns out she was limping but her paw looks OK.

*sigh* it never ends, does it?

Oh Ondine, bless you. You do so much for these poor abandoned strays. I really hope you can find her a good home soon. I really just will never understand people who can just abandon their pets. Do they feel no attachment or guilt or anything at all?

Apparently, there are a lot of feeders in this neighborhood but few people, other than Judy, the lady with the colony, who will trap and fix.  Quite a few of the houses are rentals and apparently, the renters come and go, leaving their pets behind.  Sad, sad, sad ...

I know--this is beyond my comprehension.  Pets are members of the family, how could anyone not only leave them behind, but leave them to fend for themselves?    I'll never understand it.

You are truly a saint.  How wonderful of you to take her in, care for her, spay her and find her a loving home.  It is beyond my comprehension to understand how people just leave an animal behind.  I do believe that one day karma will come back to bite them.

That is so cruel, I can't imagine how anyone could do that. Thank goodness for your friend noticing this little cat starting to take care of her. You are amazing for taking her in, bringing her back to good health, and looking for a loving new home for her. I too believe in karma and that one day every living soul will receive the just fruits of their life's actions.

So I was able to get an appointment at the clinic for Margaret today.  She's recuperating nicely.  She tested negative for all the distressing diseases, had her ears cleaned really well and was not pregnant, which really surprised me.

I have a set-up in my shed, where she is spending some quiet time until my friend and I figure out the next step.  I have a few options for her, so fingers crossed, this sweet girl will get a home soon.

That is great that she is not pregnant! You must have gotten her shortly after she was abandoned. I hope you find a good home for her soon.
