Ringworm in cats

Hi, my cat has one patch of ringworm and i called the vet he said to clean it with diluted vinegar then add lamisil on it. (We don't have a lot of stores that sell animals meds) so is it okay to use it on him?

And how to prevent its spreading and transmitting it to us?

I'M HORRIFIED!

My dog had ringworm several years ago (I think he actually contracted it from a cat at the vet's office) and the only thing that helped was shaving him and doing sulfur baths. Of course, I would go with your vet's recommendation first.
