Hello,

I've seen some discussion on the cost of Leukeran and wondering if people are willing to share where they purchase Leukeran for their kitties.

My cat just got diagnosed with small cell Lymphoma - GI tract, and will need to be on it indefinitely - I'm hoping for years.  There are conversations about compounding pharmacies, canadian pharmacies etc.

Also, are there prescription plans that can offer the drug at the lower price?

Any wisdom shared is greatly appreciated.

Dusty's mom.

I'm sorry to read that your kitty has lymphoma.  I don't have any idea where you can get it, but wanted to bump your thread up a bit so that someone with experience will see it.

I get mine from a local drugstore but I heard Costco sells it cheaply.
I got a quote from a compounding pharmacy for chlorambucil - $57 for 30 capsules.  Since I have no experience with this sort of thing, I'm not all to confident of the product.

Hmm not sure on the compounded.

I just filled my prescription at Costco (today) and it was $45 for 7 tablets.

Do you have a preference for compounding? I've found pilling much easier since I got a shooter.

Costco quoted me about $160 for 15 pills yesterday or Monday. Wonder why you were able to get it for that much less.

The compounding pharmacy offers the generic chlorambucil at $57 for 15. I had not heart of the pill shooter until I saw your post. I guess I will figure out his and my preferences as we move forward, right now neither one of us cares for pilling....

Thanks for sharing your information

I purchased a pill shooter you can fill with water. I don't fill it all the way as it is for dogs too. But it shoots enough to make him swallow.

I tried some liquids and he would gag for a few minutes after and drool and refuse to eat. He has gotten used to the pilling a little bit. He doesn't like it but he knows he gets something yummy to eat after.

Is there another Costco near you? I ask because one quoted me a higher amount for the Prednisolone - $250 for 30 tablets! The second one quoted me $6. My vet tech said it was because Prednisolone is running low so many pharmacies who haven't preordered enough have to get it specially made.

Maybe the Costco pharmacy is like their eye dept in that other companies come in to service the members.

Through Diamondback pharmacy, i am getting 60 doses of leukeran/chlorambucil for about 85 with shipping. Prednisolone cost is all over the map but also getting the liquid here. Cats dont drool like dogs do! I got it flavored - chicken.

I watched a demo of a pill shooter with a cat, he will kill me kn my sleep if I do that to him and I swear they had to have sedated that cat a bit for them to pull off that video without being mauled.

I paid 13.00 per capsule at a compounding pharmacy. I only bought two capsules because my vet wants to do pulse therapy, which is one 5mg dose for first dose then another 5mg one week later. I didn't want to be stuck with a bunch of pills if I don't continue treatment if he has bad side effects. Anyone else on this type of protocol?

Sorry to hear your cat isnt well. Sorry I cant be of any assistance with the pulse therapy. I have noticed when reading on leukeran that vets vary the days between doses but did not see a reason why.
