I should have named them Yin and Yang...

Hi all,

I just had to take a moment to show off my sweet kittties. I signed up to this forum when I adopted my first cat back in March. I also started volunteering at the shelter around the same time and managed to avoid a ton of gorgeous cats until yesterday when a little one stole my heart.

Linus, the first cat I adopted, is roughly 2 and a funny little dude. He is aloof most of the time, but will enjoy a good cuddle when he is in the mood. He is not a lap cat though, and would much rather stare out the window at birds or bother the poor dog.

After I adopted Linus, I had a dream that I adopted a white cat with blue eyes. I mentioned it to some friends in passing who worked at the shelter, and got the call a couple of days ago that one was going for adoption. It was love at first sight. We haven't decided on a name yet (either Lotus or Cricket) but she is 10 weeks old and the sweetest thing. She is feisty and playful and super cuddly. She is also deaf and I am hoping that I will meet others on here who are raising deaf cats.

Without further ado, here are my Yin and Yang. :)

Linus

Lotus (or Cricket?)

They're lovely. Hee hee, if they decide to snuggle up in a ball together they really will look like Yin and Yang.
I hope Linus looks after your new baby, she's a honey. No wonder she stole your heart!

They're both beautiful.  For your white kitty, I would go with Cricket. Linus and Lotus sound too similar and cats actually don't learn their names, they learn the sounds of the hard letters, in the case of Linus and Lotus it would be the L and the US.

what about yuki for it means blessing snow or white lucky :) she is so cute
She is cute!  Yuki is a cute name too!  Also sounds different than Linus, so she will learn the sounds that are specific for her.

By the way, I notice that she has blue eyes.  Is she deaf?  White cats with blue eyes are usually deaf.

I think it says earlier in the thread  that she is deaf, but I would still go for different sounding names - and not just for Linus' benefit. Names that have very different mouth/tongue formations and rhythm might help her visually recognize when her name is being said.

I missed that. I was so caught up in how gorgeous they both are.

My RB kitty Chynna was deaf when she was a senior, until then she could hear.  We adapted.  She felt vibrations and learned some hand signals.
