Hello and welcome to TCS.

A cats gestation period is about 9 weeks on average. It's impossible to determine at what stage she may be at without her seeing a vet. It sounds like she is quite along though. I think noticeable swelling occurs somewhere around 5 weeks.

You should have her vet checked. She also needs more food and a good rich food. Many put queens on kitten food to help add calories to their diet.

Here is an article you can check out: http://www.thecatsite.com/a/pregnancy-and-delivery-in-cats

Yes, sounds like it will be soon. Do you have a place that's quiet and out of the way where she can deliver and use as her nesting spot? A spot in a closet is always good. Easily accessible by you, but hidden enough to make her feel secure.  Good Luck!

Momma cat was small too. She didn't flinch or anything during birth. I did have to hand the last two to her because she was tired. Wear gloves

Adrienne.    glad she had the 3  OK , but I do not like the sound of this.   the panting and acting like she is hurting,  sounds like she may have another kitten in her and she is having trouble.     and if shes been doing this all day ,   you need to call a vet.

   sending prayers

  and "vibes"

P.S. You don't need to start a new thread if it's about this mama cat & her kittens.  It's easier for us to keep all the stuff about her pregnancy and birth in one thread.  so that way we can look back to see what has been going on,  and not get mixed up .

If you want to start another thread for some other thing.  you just go in the  section of the forum where you want to start it,  and above the list of posts on the left there is a blue button that says Start a New Thread.

O r if you are already in a thread someone else started,   and you want to start one ,  there is a white/ grey button above the first post in the thread that says Start a New Thread.   or there's another button like that at the bottom after the  box t post in the thread you're in.

Whew!       No wonder she was distressed!    It sounds like she kept coming to you to try to ask you for help ,  and trusted that you would help her.    I am SO glad you got her to the vet and got her the surgery to save her life.   Her faith in you was justified.

That's a big vet bill to be hit with.    I don't know if it will make you feel any better to know that  that was less than it would have been at most emergency vets  at least the prices I have heard.    and it is over twice that much at some of them.

Were they able to save those kittens that were still in her ?     I think when uterine torsion happens, the kittens in the torsed ( twisted) side of the uterus usually don't survive.   but  if the torsion only just happened during the birth it is possible they might.

I guess this means you are doing bottle feeding  about every 2 -3 hours  until your cat is able to get back home to her babies.     Here is a great site with tips about caring for baby kittens. http://www.kitten-rescue.com/

Did they tell you how to stimulate them to pee and poop?  .http://kitten-rescue.com/pooping_and_peeing.html

Also it is essential to keep them warm.     Kittens under a few week s old can't   maintain their body temperature .  Without their mom's body heat they would get too cold.    and if they get cold ,  they get weak.  and also it stops their digestion, so it is actually dangerous to feed them if they are not warm enough.    Put a heating pad turned on low,  or hot water bottles in the nest, around the edges.    If you put a heating pad, wrap it in a towel or something then inside a pillow case.   and don't put it so it covers the whole floor of the box   so if they get too warm, they can crawl away to a cooler spot in the box.

It can be also helpful that you hold the kittens on your chest , even make a little pouch and  "wear" them next to your chest ,  your warmth and heartbeat will be comforting to them; loving touch really does help with survival.

I just realized I don't know what is this mama kitty's name?

well it went really well and and we got her back today and they took the kittens with her and i guess they said she took care of them but they did the surgery and ended up calling me saying she actually did not have anymore baby's but when she gave birth her uterus did twisted and i guess her intestines where wrapped around her uterus several times and was leaking into her stomach and they said it would of killed her with in 24 to 48 hours so the lumps we and the vet felt was her intestines so they took a part of her intestines out and fixed her and the took the cost down to 500
