I found a wasp flying around my apartment and the cats, naturally, chasing after it. I managed to get rid of it before the cats got to it..

there's a nest of wasps somewhere outside my window, so I am sure another will find its way in. (I've already contacted my apartment management 3x this summer)

If one should sting a cat, or a cat eats it.. how harmful is it?

Probably not too harmful. I mean, it must happen quite often, as cats do chase them.

Next point, is most cats surely learn soon enough not to chase, but this too is a proof; usually its not too harmful.  Although not sworn is best, so avoid just in case.

If they get bitten inside the throat it must be dangerous.

There is a smelly oil essence used in bakery, which the wasps dont like.

I dont know the word in english, so lets try.  The oil is taken from the core of apricots and also from mandels (Prunus dulcis).

In large amounts it is poisonous, but cleaned off, it is commonly used in some cakes, to give the smell and flavor.  Deep greenish in color sold in small bottles.

Please tell me what it is in english?

A few drops on something, say a newspaper, and after a while the air becomes unpleasant for wasps.
