She is spayed I take it?  Does she show any signs of being in heat-if something is left behind it can happen even if it is only a small part.

Were her teeth checked very well(not sure how that was doable without knocking her out given her reaction to having revolution applied)

When is the last time you put flea meds on?  I would do diago and skip her next time around.

Will she eat dry more willingly?

I know in past wellness had a recall, check into it against what you fed during that time.

So glad her appetite's improved.  Any news on the bloodwork?  How did the vet visit go?

I feel like crying.. ever since she ate one good meal she has been eating only a few bites and this morning she wouldn't eat at all.. There has been only one poop a day for two days and im willing to bet its diago.. I had tried to separate them but they were flipping out and no one wanted to use the tote as a litter box.. tonight I will have to try again and buy a dollar store litter box I guess. This morning there was one DROP of diarea on the floor a couple feet infront of the litter box.. which is odd too.. I called my USA vet and told them she had blood work here and asked what could be done next.. they wont say anything on the phone.. I said I don't want a diagnosis I just don't want to come in to have her examed for 45 bucks when that was just done.. I want to know what they will test on her.. they wont say anything. The damn car exhast fell off now, and its looking like the 'car savings+ health emergency" fund we have is going to be used on a new car or I wont even be able to get to work. this is costing a fortune and its not even getting anywhere and I feel like im going to end up bankrupt before she is resolved and shes probably going to end up dying anyways since no one seams to know what is wrong. I hate crying at work, I get worked up to easy but I really care about that cat.

Yes she is spayed.. never had a cat in heat but she isn't running around rubbing on things and meowing or anything..

They checked her teeth by opening her mouth and poking and looking..

They had their monthly rev. on.. last sat?(after the issues started) they have been getting it monthly since they were 5 months old I believe it was.

she hates dry food.. she used to eat it though.. but wet always took priority. dry was a "filler" for in between wet meals in her eyes I think. She wont touch it now.

I fed a wellness can yesterday+ today and still some left as she isn't eating now.. previous to that its been a month or two since wellness. I will google it now...

stephanietx it went 'good' but disappointing. all her levels were normal in the blood work and her physical showed she had poo in her and that's it. She pooped that out later the same day or the next morning- cant remember. and hasn't again since. at least I don't think she has as only one cat has been pooping and its gotta be Diago because he is eating and its hairy poop(hes long/med haired).

I know I can use a syring but it will be hard because I am gone 10-11 hours a day for work (accept my 2 days off)... I really don't know how much to feed because I was told before cans 'lie' . She is 7.5 pounds (or was on Monday anyways). ideally id say 8.5 maybe.. I don't know. she is skin and bones when standing up.

Oh Dreamraider, I can feel your despair. I am so sorry things haven't continued on the up and you're not managing to get anything off the vet over the phone. It makes me realize how lucky I have been with my current vet.  Having to go to work is just awful at times like this too, but some of us have to do it however painful it is and however guilty we feel.  I don't know what to suggest but wanted you to know I'm here thinking of you all. You all deserve some luck.

I guess if you do try syringe feeding, anything is going to be better than nothing.

The vet is very wrong if she is not eating enough she will get fatty liver. Aim for a can of the ad a day.

That vet is an idiot.  If she is not eating on her own and so thin already not feeding her could mean starvation/death from fatty liver.

Just get anything you can get in her within reason.  If she is not doing much she just needs enough to survive and does not need her normal amount when she is running around/playing.

Something is seriously wrong for a cat to stop eating/not eat enough

Ad? Is that the special diet you were talking about? I looked in the vet and they only had dry food for sale. How big is a can?
I agree with both of you that the vet is wrong/an idiot. I did buy a better syring at tge pet store and they gave me some food samples too. Also got more friskies which she seamed to like and some purees pumkin and sardines in water to try.. if she doesn't eat supper ill start using syring. Its a 2 ounce once but ill feed an ounch at a time. Ounces of food per pound for inactive cat? ( for my goal anyways)

A/D is a Hill's critical care product. It's prescription only though. You can use any smooth pate style food that's high in calories and fat blended with some extra water to make it smooth and flow through the syringe easily. Wellness works well. The Fancy Feast kitten works well too.

Yes sorry am on my phone with really bad reception. If you can get her to eat about 5.5 oz of food that would be great. The A/D is useful for syringe feeding because you do not have to blend it and it is high in calories but any pate food works. If you have a 29 cc syringe that is about an ounce of food.

Hi there Dreamraider and fellow Elantrophiles ( from memory if I'm not mistaken this means cat lovers),

I agree with all who reckon the vet's an idiot.

I hope the following suggestions will help :-

- change her water supply to bottled or rain water. ASAP !!...absolutely no tap water.

- boil (in bottled water) then simmer, her favourite source of protein ex: chicken or fish....then cool it down to room temp and place in fridge (not freezer) till the soup or liguid gels up. Do not place in fridge even if still slightly hot or warm. Heat up again before offering this to her. It can also be served cold, but if hot the aroma might stimulate her apetite. IMPORTANT if this works, by all means add a bit of mashed veg that she likes ...but absolutely NO organ rich foods such as chicken liver etc.

- can you let her sleep in a seperate room away from the other cats...ideally a room that has no bright lights or glare from windows...and quite.

- what is your house hold room temperature now...it is too hot ? ...are you using air conditioning ?

- change out and litter and clean out tray every 24 hours...or even 12 hr if possible.

When you touch its pelt is it cold or cool ? ..if yes then perhaps you might want to consider a very low wattage heat source such as infra red heat from one of those hand held massagers.

Is your cat on any medication right now ?..does it adopt a "meatloaf (or Sphinx) position" ?

None of these suggestions are risky at all ..... I hope you give them your best shot without delay.

Apologies in advance as you can tell I have not had the time to read closely information in this entire thread but Hope this helps.

FF

Ahe doesnt like real meat..cooked or raw.. diago will eat it ahe will not. I will be transitioning to raw using commercial raw mixed with her wet when she is feeling better though. Ww don't have a seperate room bc I have fostwr kittens atm. It is always perfect temp in my house bc of insulation being thick and utilitizing blinds and windows. No air conditioning. She feels warm.. same as diago. She is on the predisone he perscribed for apitiee.. not sure what you are asking about meatloaf lol.

So this feels like a rollercoaster but last night she ate decently and this morning she ate a sample of raw dehyrated .rehydrated. which was small but noteworthy. Then 3.25 oz of wet! Also there was a hairy but normal looking poop last night that had to be her bc I saw diago go in the morning and they never go more than once a day.

Something I have noticed before is she often yells if you touch around her tail..today I was checking her skin bc I'm paranoid about fleas and I poked her...butt cheek? It was her meaty part of the leg beside her butt... and she yelled.. I touched again soft soft and she was upset .othr side hurts to..no injury to see though.. maybe she has something wrong causing her apitite loss?

That really doesn't sound right. Do you think this is a new thing or might it have been around for a day or two and not been touched where it hurts?  Is it about 4 days since the vet visit?  I really don't know what to say because I know it's so difficult for you to get there and they haven't been much use but poor Misty doesn't sound well at all and must be in a lot of pain to react like that. I'm so worried about you guys.

Is she still walking OK and holding herself in a 'normal' position or is she hunching her back?  Are there any signs of swelling over the area you think is painful? Is her tummy still feeling quite normal or is it hard?  Is she OK when you touch her everywhere else or is it difficult for you to get that close to her just now?

Hang in there.

Was her blood sugar normal?  nerve pain is common in diabetics.  Did she get a shot there?

I don't know because they sent me away but her blood sugar and other levels were normal. Also she has had that sore spoy for months. I thought she did thought I was gonna touch her bum before but now I am thinking it probably does hurt . Its hard to tell with her because she is very vocal.. she yells when ever she wants down or up or food or if something hurts lol.her belly feals normal now that she has food in her. Not hard.

See now I just tried again and nothing..because she is smart too and acts like ur hurting her if she wants to be let go. Just now I was petting her and poked at her there a few spots and nothing..because she wants to be pet. The bf thinks she is starvinf her self for the attention*or hopefully WAS as she ate well this morning* ... I told him I don't think she would go to those extremes lol

Well, she's getting plenty of attention!

Totally clutching at straws but the spaying definitely went OK coz some of her behaviours do SOUND a lot like a queen in heat??? Or maybe some other cause of hormone disruption like thyroid? From the bloods that were done would these have been covered?
