My kitty prefers pate style foods, and so do I since they're usually higher in protein and it's easy to sneak supplements and meds in with a pate. She's recently been diagnosed with mild IBD, and I am removing carrageenan from the diet for testing purposes. Now the problem is that there aren't many cat foods that are carrageenan free. Of the ones that are, some of them are shredded style, I suppose because the pates use carrageenan as a thickener. I'm wondering if I can simply put shredded food in a mini blender and wind up with a decent pate style food?

I don't think that will work for something like Tiki Cat chicken. It might work for something like Nutro Naturals. There are some pate style foods without carrageenan - Hound & Gatos, Nature's Variety Instinct, Addiction and Wild Calling.

I'm not familiar with those foods, but I used a baby food version of the Magic Bullet for my late CRF cat so I could assist feed her by syringe.

All of the foods Vball91 listed are good. I feed nature's variety who my cat who most likely has Ibd and most of it is pate except for the pride line.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I've already tried a lot of these and want greater variety because they haven't worked out to a large extent.

Hound and Gatos - At least for now, I'm not feeding chicken. Which leaves lamb and beef flavors, which she'll eat, but doesn't particularly like. The other flavors are fish or pork, which I heard you're not supposed to feed.

Nature's Variety -Way too high in fiber. She has chronic constipation and does better on a low fiber diet. In fact, she had to get an enema right after eating Nature's Variety.

Wild Calling - she doesn't like it.

Addiction - Maybe, haven't tried it yet.

I'm feeding mainly By Nature Organics and the By Nature stew line right now.
