I have had Chloe for 5 years.  She was a rescue.  It took her 6 months before she would let me pick her up and even now she is very guarded, though she will get in my lap anytime for petting.  There are no other pets in the home.  I recently moved in my daughter and grand daughter about a month ago.  Chloe does not like my grand daughter, but she seems to be tolerating her better and better every day.  At least we thought so.  The past several days, she has urinated in my grand daughters tote of dress up clothes (we thought this was because it was my grand daughters).  Later, she urinated in a basket of clean clothes I had left for an hour or so.  Today she urinated in my daughters tote and in an empty clothes basket.  The first time I cleaned her litter box and cleaned the areas with Lysol.  Today in the empty clothes basket, I saw blood in the urine.  Is this all stress due to the new room mates? Or could it be something else? Will she ever get use to the room mates?  I tried to help a rescue a couple of years ago.  The poor cat was pitiful and only wanted attention from me and Chloe.  Chloe never accepted her and she ended up hiding all day from her until I was able to get her another home.  She had 6 months to get use to her and didn't.    Some advice please?

I would get her checked by a vet.  Stress can cause cystitis but getting to the point of blood in the urine she should be checked.  If she were a male cat I would be concerned about getting blocked with crystals but I haven't heard of a female cat getting to the point of a blockage.

Any idea about the urinating in the alternative places, is this related to the new people in the house...like a territorial issue?  She has never done this before

Cats will sometimes urinate outside of the litter box because of pain and urgency from cystitis, stones, etc.

PLEASE,Get her to the Vet ASAP. Trust me! I went through 3 episodes of cystitis w/ Angel in a year. The last being on Christmas day, so off the Hospital we went!!    She is in pain & needs meds.

Yes, it sounds like the stress of change in the home is what's causing it.  The first time Angel had it, it was bacteria related, but the last 2 were stress related.

I also highly recommend getting a Feliway diffuser asap. It will help w/ the stress. It puts out the "friendly pheromones" scent that helps a cat feel safe & calm. The best prices I have found for them are either on amazon, or a site called EntierlyPets.com. A single plug in diffuser on those sites are about $22.00. (compared to $50.00 at local pet stores!)  You will also need refills. One bottle seems to last about 3-4 wks. Leave it plugged in all the time. I think someone on here told me it covers approx. 600ft. (?) so, you may need more than one, depending on the size of your home. I would plug it in the room she spends most of her time in.

More importantly, please get her to the Vet ASAP.. If this has been going on for a few days, she is in pain. She needs antibiotics & maybe more.

Angel had to have an ultrasound & it shows struvite crystals in his bladder, as well as bladder inflammation.

Let's just say I had to open a Care Credit account,  (but worth it) so the sooner, the better to get her help.

Please keep us posted & let us know what happens.

Were you able to get her into the Vet's today?  Hopefully you told them it was urgent & they fit you in.  How is she doing?
