Ok, so Midnight's inside, bathed and quieted down finally...sleeping on the t-shirt I washed him in. Turns out She's a He. That'll make the neuter cheaper, but might complicate matters with the resident cat? Or will it, because he's so young?

Anyway, I've got him shut in the bathroom for now and plan to keep him there at least until he's vetted and had his shots, which I can make an appointment for once the husband gets his hours later tonight for the week coming up..

He did try to leave after his bath, but I can understand him being annoyed
He spent the entire bath time trying to climb up onto my shoulder...I had to have a helper to keep taking him off and put him on the floor for me! Not at all what I expected when bathing a kitty. Usually they bite and scratch me.

I put some dirt in a shallow tray, and some wet food  and water in small metal bowls for him so he's got everything he physically needs in there. Although he cried every time we left him alone until I thought to give him my t-shirt. Hopefully that helps.

Update over, now what do I need to expect/be prepared for? the little guy's already taken me by surprise by being so needy, and I'm going completely blind here. this is not only my first stray, but also my first kitten!

You might want to play some soft quiet music for him.  Also a feliway diffuser is helpful.  When I brought my stray, Marvin inside late May, he cried at night for awhile.  I gave him feline Composure treats each night and it really calmed him down.  I would visit him every few hours during the day.  We would have play time as well as just quiet time.  Sometimes I would just sit and read a magazine with him.

So glad you have him inside and will get him vetted soon!

You can also give him a stuffed animal, like a teddy bear, as companion.

Overall, it sound good!

Good luck!
