Thank you for the update, it's good the vet thinks she's doing well. It must be hard seeing her still uncomfortable just the same.

Hugs and pampering for Rose and Nelly.

Thanks. It is hard. I don't know why I can't think of my cats as just cats but for some reason I can't. Maybe because since I'm retired and alone I spend so much time with them.

That's the lovely thing about this site - What ever else we do, what age we are, or where we are, you are surrounded by like minded people.

So happy to read this update!!  Glad you were able to find a vet who was willing to help.  Sounds like your precious girl is doing well.  Give Rose some extra TLC and pampering.

A little update. Nelly seems to be doing better today. Her mouth still hurts pretty bad when she eats but she has a good appetite. She's still on pain meds. Her vet said her mouth can be expected to hurt because they cut really deep in order to get all of the tumor out. They got it all but there is a chance it will come back but it may not.

That's wonderful, it must be a huge relief that they've said all the tumour is out. Also that she's got her appetite back and managing to eat something.  I hope her pain reduces soon and you start to see your Nelly getting back to her old self.
 for all of you.

Thank you for your nice comments. It is nice to see her improving. She seems much better tonight than this morning. Right now she's on her chair next to mine and she's begging me to scratch her head as I always do while I watch TV.

Yay!!  Slow and steady progress is good.  It's going to take awhile for her mouth to feel better, but it's good to see she's returning to her former self.  That's always so encouraging as a pet owner.

Thanks. I don't like seeing her hurt when she eats but I can see she's better every day. The vet said the stitches could be bothering her. My main concern is that the tumor doesn't come back. Pray for that.

So glad to hear she is improving a little bit each day. I know it doesn't make the immediate any easier but try to remember short term pain for long term gain. Hopefully by going through this now she will still have many healthy and happy years in front of her!

Yes, you are for sure with likeminded people! I don't think it matters our age or other life circumstances, very few people on this board view their cats as cats. For example, I have some friends in from out of town who needed a place to crash so I of course invited them to stay here. But, it was too much for my younger one who is having some health problems. So, I had to tell them to go to another friends house for the rest of the trip! No one kicks out house guests for a pet, but they do for a beloved family member! After all, this is HIS home too!

Continued vibes for Nelly, Rosie, and you!

Thanks. She's still in pain but eats pretty good and tonight was playing with Rose, my other cat.

I just thought I would let y'all know Nelly's doing a lot better and eating good but I always have the worry that the tumor will come back. Thanks to you all for your thoughts.

Thank you so much for the update. I am so happy for you all that Nelly is doing better and eating well. I am sure I will not be alone in keeping fingers crossed for you that she stays happy and well for a good long time! I am sure your anxiety will stay with you and you will keep a watchful eye over your babies after such a difficult time but wishing you many more happy and loving years with them both.
 to all of you.

So glad she is doing well!  I know it's easier said than done, but try not to worry, and just enjoy this bonus time you now have together.  It MAY never come back.
But if it does, then you will cross that bridge when you come to it

(I wish I could follow my own advice...I hover over my own little kidney kitty and worry and fret ALL the time

So, so glad to hear she's continuing to improve.  I would totally take each day as it comes and try not to worry about the tumor coming back.  Worrying is counterproductive.  The tumor may never come back, but if it does, you'll know what to do.  Now you know the signs to look for and you'll be better prepared to meet it head on.

Thanks for the kind words. You're right, just like with all  our loved ones, we should cherish whatever time we have left with them.
