Our 16 week old kitten was netured on the 11th,He did just fine so it appeared he came home groggy but ate his meals,He is on a RAW diet RAD cat raw today he refused to eat I called my vet she does home visits she could not make it out today so I went to the vet office,They took another stool sample wont have results of that untill tomorrow but they did an in office fecal cytology and found he has clostridium, rods, rbc,he was treated for coccidia on 7-16-13 so they will be chking to see if he still has it sigh... that vet told me it is his RAW diet is that true??? he's been on it for a month and doing just fine...and we ad pre/probiotics to his food each feeding,I called my reg vet and she said this could be caused from stress ie the surgery and just getting over his last deal I know that surgery stressed the heck out of him!!! And I believe they handled his food wrong...!!She doesnt have a problem with his raw diet the other vet who I have never seen because our reg vet couldnt get out today does!! Please any input advice anything to add do or change I would greatly appreciate it,we also got the A/D canned today he would not touch it no canned food he wont touch we also got baby food chicken which I had to force feed just now 2 teaspoons he did aslo get SUB Q fluids while at vet

If you have strictly been feeding him Radcat, and it's handled correctly (kept frozen until needed, etc.) I doubt that he got the clostridium from that!  That being said, there have been a couple raw feeders who have encountered it recently, here are their threads:

http://www.thecatsite.com/t/259419/kittens-raw-and-clostridium-safety

Within those threads there is the discussion of a special probiotic that helps with the clostridium, and now I know some of the other raw feeders here are using it just as a precautionary measure.

Do you ever give your little guy 100% freeze dried chicken (Wholelife or Purebites) or any other type of things as toppers on his raw?  You may need to try those on the AD, or the baby food to get him to eat, also I thought the clostridium mainly caused diarrhea vs loss of appetite?  Did they give him anything to boost his appetite?

Thank you so much I appreciate it,No they didnt give him anything to help increase his appetite the metronidazole  one side effect is loss of appetite =( he does have diarrhea and I am hving to force feed him I have done it this morning one teaspoon vet told me to do 50 ml a day he is 4 pounds, she is coming today to check him herself and give him a Convenia injection she thinks he got an infection from the neuter...he has a very rancid smell to him like blood and c diff =( her and I both dont understand how hes gone down hill so fast over a fairly simple procedure but I suppose it can happen I think his tummy and all the stress has caused the not eating but I dont know....plus the med but he stoped eating yesterday before med now that just adds to it
