My cat has FIV and hyperthroidism, had her teeth removed and is 12 years old..  The past four or five days she has been throwing up a little bit.  She hasn't changed her behavior and doesn't act sick.  She hasn't been eating as much of her wet food as she used to, but seems to be eating more of her dry food now.  She is taking in much, much more food then she is vomiting out.

Because I have been coddling her the last few days, I found a few sores on her back and put neosporin on them.  I don't know they might of always been there. I had to get a tumor removed and the doctor said she had another one on her body but I never found it.  The doctor said don't worry about her tumors.  I don't know if these scratch things are growths or tumors or what.  These things might have nothing to do with her vomiting.  I don't really know.  The first day or two, she was coughing, but now she isn't coughing anymore.

So do I need to take her to the vet or just wait it out a couple more days?  She isn't in any pain or discomfort.  If it weren't for the fact that she is new and has so many problems, I wouldn't give her throwing up a second thought.  I have had other cats before and wouldn't worry about this in any other cat I have had.

I got her from a humane society in Chicago about 6 months ago, so I don't know much about her getting sick and how that relates to her HIV.  When I first got her, she already had that tumor (it was near her eye).  The doctor removed it because of its location, but said don't worry about other tumors.

Oh yeah.  She takes 5 mg of Tapazole twice a day for hyperthroidism.

Hi and welcome to TCS! Thanks for adopting a senior kitty. Given her various issues, I would vote for a vet visit. While none of the symptoms seem serious by themselves, I worry about all of them together. Is there a pattern to her vomiting? Does she vomit food right after meals, or is it liquid between meals? Are you sure she's still eating at least 1/2 her normal caloric intake? I worry a bit about dehydration with the vomiting and eating mostly dry food.

Have you seen this site about FIV? http://www.fivtherapy.com/

She seems much better today.

Her hperthroidism is well regulated. She is part of a Purdue study on it. They just examined her about a month ago and said everything was in normal levels.

Anyway, the last time she threw up was yesterday early afternoon. She is eating well and seems great now!

I just get overly concerned because I really don't know how weak an immune system is with FIV. I am not sure if even a simple cold could end up killing her. Like I said, with a regular cat I wouldn't of thought twice about this.

Thank you for your time and expertise.  And also the link!
