Today in my apartment complex parking lot I saw a kitty. She definitely has a home- by feeding her I was able to read her tag and call her owner (who is, frustratingly, not picking up her cell phone).  I almost got her into a carrier but failed at the last minute. She is running from car to car now.  It was pouring rain and she was hissing at me so after over an hour I had to stop

Also, I know I need to call my doctor in the morning and ask this, but she nipped me slightly. Should I be getting the rabies vaccine?

Though a cat bite can cause a serious infection, most are not a concern for rabies. Rabies from a cat bite is very rare and since your sure it is an owned cat, I wouldn't be concerned about that, but perhaps a tetnus shot would be more recommended.

It is very important to clean and flush the puncture wound with an antibacterial soap and warm water as quickly as possible. Deeply cleansing the bite for at least five minutes could lessen your chances of developing a serious infection. If you have Betadine solution or Peroxide on hand, use these to kill and eradicate germs. You can also apply something like Neosporin oint over it until healed. Then keep an eye on it for any signs of infection.

Have actually talked to the owner now and the cat is vaccinated. I did thoroughly clean the wound and won't hesitate to talk to a doctor or go see one if necessary.  I think I am actually up on my tetanus shots thankfully.

The cat is unfortunately indoor only and is no longer where I saw her.  I hope the owner does locate her soon :/
