Hi there and welcome to thecatsite,

I would advise you to post in the pregnant cat and kitten care forum to get more expert advice on how to take care of young kittens (http://www.thecatsite.com/f/36/pregnant-cats-and-kitten-care). Here is a list of all the articles and threads that are helpful for learning how to take care of a new born kitten including how to hand raise them (http://www.thecatsite.com/t/249018/...regnant-cats-kitten-care-articles-and-threads).

You need to encourage her to nurse from her mother for the best nutrition. You can supplement with KMR or goats milk. The blood in the stool is concerning and kittens go down hill very fast so it is best to call or go to a vet.

Your girlfriend's cat also needs to be spayed. Having two litters at the same time is very hard on a cat and she will be able to get pregnant again right away which could cause a lot of health problems and more dead and sick kittens. I am not sure where you are located but if you live in the States you can call this helpful toll free number 1-800-248-7729 and they will find you a low cost or free spay clinic near you. You can also take a look at their website to find a clinic near you (http://spayusa.org). If you are in Canada contact the local humane society or your city information line for free of low cost options. If you live in another country you can post where and our members can help you find some local resources.

I don't know anything about caring for a kitten this small.  The smallest one I cared for was 3 or 4 weeks.  It's sounds like there may be a problem with these kittens, maybe the mothers had something wrong which caused problems with the kittens.  Did the mother cats reject the kittens?  Sometimes they will do that if there is a problem with the kittens.  Maybe someone will come along with some ideas on what needs to be done for her.

I am aware that she needs to be fixed and we are in the prodded of doing so but had to wait for them to have the babies first

Franksmom didn't come across like she was talking to a child?. She welcomed you to the site and gave sound advice.

We always mention to spay and neuter cats because you would be suprised at how many don't think they need to

I'll move this to the pregnant cat and kitten care forum

Blood in stool...  Not good of course, but the reasons can be many, some of the not so serious.

Say, if she was somewhat constipated...  Using kmr, and they becoming constipated, a common try to solve it is by having a little more water. dilute the kmr some more.

A couple of drops of food oil in the kmr is another try.

If it is nothing of this, consulting your vet is surely the wisest, if the bleeding continues.

The mom dont having milk is not common!  The milk coming late, firstly when the kittens are born, happens, but not having milk at all is rare.

Good you were prepared and can help with kmr!

What food does she get?  Pregnant cats shall typically have kitten food, or equivalent. For example canned food.  Canned wet food is usually better than many dry food brands bought at your supermarket.

Is the mom caretaking of the kitten, even if she doesnt has milk?

Is her health OK?  No health or other problems with her?

Do the kitten gain weigh every day and develops?

Easiest to see if you weigh it every day...  Othewise you must use your judgement!   :)

Continue to report and ask!

Good luck!

Ps.  OOps,  I see now the title, bloody and runny stool... so it wastn  no constipation.  Sorry.

Still the advices may work.  Especielly this about seeing your vet!

The mom is healthy she only tried to care for her babies for about an hr or too I have gave her little bits of menerail oil when she was constipated for a few days she was doing good and then just 2 days ago she started bleeding
the blood has slowed down now but she isn't eating as much now but should coyld have just been cold the last time I fed her she is still active on the plus side
to rosiemac i have many animals and have had many through out my life I do know what to do with them in getting them fixed and i also know we have to be sure they have all their babies and are healthy to be able to get her fixed

Be sure she doesnt get cold!  When cold, they gets weaker, and cant digest good.

A good tip is to bear her at your chest, perhaps in a sack.  It hears your heart, and gets your warmth.

It depends a little how much the mom is caring for her, and how warm is at your place.

IF she gets really weak, seems fading, you can try and perk her up by smear some honey or white caro syrup directly on her gum.  The glucose in honey goes directly into blood, and gives them energy.

Make sure she has enough with fluid / water too.  Easiest perhaps  with somewhat diluted kmr.

Otherwise there are a couple of homemade pedialyte.

Good the blood has slowed down.  Bleeding drains her and makes her weaker too.

As she is alone left from her litter, you can perhaps give her a stuffed animal, like a teddy bear, as her pal?   It will give her more courage to hang on, to live.

Good luck!

I am very sorry about baby Spirit.     I'm sure you at least gave her some love and comfort in her short life.   If you would like to start a thread to remember her ( or the other kittens who did not make it)  ,  we have a Crossing the Bridge section.   http://www.thecatsite.com/f/19/crossing-the-bridge

How is the mama cat?  Do make sure to keep her inside and away from male cats until she can get fixed.  it would be very hard on her if she gets pregnant again soon.   and it might be that she has some infection that contributed to the kittens dying,   so that could happen again.   Someone posted a link earlier in the thread to Spay USA that has a hotline to help find places to get pets fixed.

If you are in another country try googling  low cost spay and your location.,  and/ or  contact some local  rescue groups or shelters and ask if they know of a good place.
