Question:  any ideas, tips on how to apply homeopathic medicine on to a very skittish cat?

Ritz is on a course of several homeopathic substances, one at a time, for about five weeks.  The homeopathic medicine was provided by a vet who has practiced holistic vet medicine for a long time.  The crystals are a little bigger than rock salt and supposedly taste good, like sugar.  You give around ten at a time.

The preferred method is:  mixing with a tiny bit of water and smearing them on her gum (yeah, sooooo not going to happen); smearing them on her scent glands around her neck (no), or putting them on her forepaws (if I dare).  I believe the scent glands activate the healing properties of the medicine, though I am not clear about this.  You should not (cannot?) mix them with food.  Which is a shame because Ritz will take any kind of flavored drug mixed in baby food.  Bubblegum, tuna, chicken; Prozac, Flagyl, Reglan, she doesn't care.

I've tried putting the crystals on a spoon, mixing with a drop or two of energy water, and then syringing it into a syringe.  I thought calm thoughts, breathed, and aimed towards Ritz' paw and missed (though the floor is feeling mighty fine now). I tried mixing the crystals with the water and seeing if she will lick the spoon, but she won't.  (I fed raw, so she has a very low thirst drive.)  Ritz is at the point where she is leary, nervous.  Defeating the purpose of the homeopathic medicine. I have been advised to just CHILL, that Ritz is sensing my nervousness. That didn't get me very far.

I do know she will eat the crystals by themselves.  Believing that if you SEE what scares you, I put out some crystals on a towel, and she sniffed and ate them.

So, any ideas, tips?  How important is it that the crystals be applied at the same time every day.  Maybe I could sneak them on her when petting her.  Though I don't want her to have a negative association with petting/belly rubs.

Thanks.

I do not have a lot of experience with skittish cats because mine pretty much let me do what I want to them. But I do think you can try applying it with petting without her really noticing  might work (well maybe not in the mouth). Not sure if the is helpful but here is Jackson Galaxy describing how to apply his homeopathic remedies to an animal and he just puts in on his hands and pats them to get in their energy field. Did the Dr. say she had to ingest them?

Thanks so much for this link.  It gives me a good idea how to apply the crystals, which are solid, not liquid.  (Put on hand, spit, pet her.  She does like to be petted.)

A cat grooms, unlike a dog., so as I understand it, yes, the cat does have to ingest it.  But not with/in food.

I am giving Ritz a spirit essence, I didn't know you had to tap it.  And with the spirit essence, I can put it in food.
