When you pack to go away somewhere, so you tend to over pack, under pack and forget things, or are you just about right?

Between overpacking and just right, as I usually spend a week or two prior making a list of everything and planning to the T!

I'm a swinging packer... I remember that I overpacked the time before, so then I underpack the next time... and so on...

This last time, I did fairly well. I came back with a pair of jeans and two sweatshirts that I didn't wear. I brought the sweatshirts because Rick was worried about cooler weather during the evening and he knows I don't like being chilly. But we were fine. Rick, however, said I over-packed and said I needed to learn how to pack properly.

I did carry a smaller bag for personal items: hair dryer, hair products, some cosmetics, a bit of jewelry, my prescription meds, etc. Considering we were gone 5 days, I thought that was pretty good. A large wheeled piece and one smaller bag and that was for both of us. And my purse. Pretty good!

Over pack every time... yet somehow I always seem to need something I SHOULD have packed and didn't.  Like a sweatshirt for a 4th of July weekend in Silverton, CO.  Whoda thunk it would get THAT cold at 9,308' above sea level in July?

I always pack too much (and about a third of it is stuff for DH, because he underpacks). You never know when flights will be canceled, the car will break down, or the weather will change abruptly. :lol3:

I always over pack. It surprises people the size of my luggage when I'm going away for just a couple of days. I think I'm just prepared

Don't go away much but when I do I usually get it about right. Only thing I miss out on is the cat:(

I'm pretty good at planning what I'll be doing and packing just enough, plus one extra of everything just in case (maybe 2 extra shirts. . .I'm terrible about spilling on my shirt! :lol3:).

I went to summer camp at about that level, and we always packed a fairly heavy coat and sweatshirts. The lake was runoff water from a glacier, and it was COLD.

The only place I go is to my Sister's for Christmas, and I pack using an empty box the cat litter came in. When it is full, I stop packing.

I have read that folks should take twice as much money and half as many clothes. :lol3:

Usually just right, but have been guilty of underpacking before!! I usually count out the clothes so it lands just right. And we normally have limited space. I used to definitely be an overpacker!
