I just got a kitten from these... sketchy type people who I didn't like so that's why I chose to take one of the kittens they have to get rid of. (even getting rid of the mom, that doesn't really say cat lover especially since they let an unspayed female run around outside causing the kitten litter)I haven't taken it home yet, I'm at a friends house but I noticed the kitten has fleas. Easy fix, my pets have fleas so we have current medicine for that. The weird part is that the kittens ears are completely pink and clean looking but with black spots that worry me. This kitten has no shots (yet, hopefully will soon) and it seems the whole litter has fleas so the kitten really didn't come from the best place. I'm worried about my other cat and dog and what the effects of ear mites are? Are they a pretty simple thing like fleas? Some not too expensive treatment at home at all is fine? I'm a little nervous because I JUST got this poor kitten. It's big and healthy, a few months old and is active (doesn't care for treats but he may just be too focused on playing and being in a new house) but are the black spots flea poop? They are scattered all in the ear and there's also black stuff in his fur which I know is from fleas.

Do the black spots inside his ears look like coffee grounds? If so, they are treatable. Ear mites do spread easily so it would be best to keep the kitten isolated until treated.
