I was wondering if anyone had heard of a cat breaking their palate in a fall.  On another forum someone has a 5 month old kitten that fell off a balcony and has one.  I know a broken jaw is common from hitting their chin on the ground but I had never heard of a broken palate.  It just happened today and the vet told her the next day or two would be critical.  I would think if she survives they would have to put in a feeding tube while it heals.

Never heard of it but I assume it would be possible if a cat suffers a head trauma.

I googled this because for some reason I was just really curious about it.  It's sometimes part of what they call high rise syndrome which I have heard of it.  What I had heard of as high rise syndrome is the broken jaw and sometimes also a broken pelvis.  I wouldn't be surprised if this kitten also has a broken jaw.  At some point they do surgery to get everything lined back up and close the split so it can heal properly.  This kitten fell 5 stories and what I had always heard was 3 stories was about as much of a fall as a cat can take without injury.
