Howdy, y'all! Greetings from the Great State of Texas...although I'm usually just in a state of confusion.
I accidentally stumbled across this site the other day, and I'm so glad I did. I've already learned oodles of cool stuff and helpful hints (like the coating a pill with butter thingy that I'm about to try!), and am looking forward to learning even more and hanging out with such a great bunch of people. You guys totally rock!
I currently have a nine-year-old tabby (Oscar) who thinks he's the center of the universe, and a stray that I recently took in (Buddy) that's FIV positive and has his own little apartment of sorts in what used to be the rec room. Thus far, all of my cats have eventually developed some kind of serious health problems (e.g., cancer, diabetes, fatty liver disease, kidney failure, etc.), so I've learned a lot about caring for sick critters along the way. But this is the first time I've adopted a cat that already has some ongoing health issues, so this is a whole new experience for me.
I look forward to browsing the site some more in my 'ever so abundant' free time (especially re: FIV, respiratory infections, and how to pill a cat without losing too much blood *g*), and getting to meet everyone. And who knows? Maybe I might accidentally be of some help every once in a while. Stranger things have happened. ;-)
