Hey guys I'm new to this forum. My cats name is Mika and I was just wondering if my feeding schedule is alright. I feed Mika 3 times a day. One cup of purina one at 7am another cup at 5pm and 1 can of fancy feast wet food at 12. Is this alright ?I'm confused about all of this, btw he's 2 years old.

The feeding schedule is fine, but that seems like a lot of food to me. 2 cups of dry plus 3 oz of wet? The dry food is high in carbs and fillers. If possible, I would try to replace at least one of the dry feedings with wet. Cats are obligate carnivores who are geared toward getting most of their moisture from food.

Thank you for your feedback! I'll switch the first feeding of dry to wet.

That is a LOT of food! Is he a particularly large cat? I would be afraid of him becoming overweight with that amount.

But yes, wet food is best, especially for males as they can have big trouble with their urinary systems. You want him to get as much moisture as possible, and wet food has a lot of moisture. Read this site: www.catinfo.org

If you can't give him all wet food, try to pick a dry food that has no food coloring and has meat as the first ingredient. If you need something that costs about the same, Purina Naturals is OK. But if you can spend a bit more, there are many fine choices at pet stores.

I am not too sure on my feeding either, but my cat weighs close to yours (13.5 pounds) and I feed him 2 3oz. cans as well as maybe a little under a quarter cup of dry next to the wet in the evening.  Just for reference!
