I have the 6 kittens who are 6 weeks old in a 10 by 10 room with just a desk and a cuboard in it. They have a blanky and scratch post, a big box and their food water. I have two litter boxes set up just the clay litter provided for them in one corner. They use it for both and activelu seek it out when they need it... but early one was crying out and looking around and it didn't clue in but by the time I realised it had gone in a different corner. A poop. I went in just now with a flashlight to check the corners and there was a poop in a different corner...I am using a enzyme cleaner by the way... and the light revealed may many pee spots all over the floor I couldn't notice with the overhead light. They did go in the box also though..last night I put them each in whem they ararrived again this korning and just now. I also put the one who made the mistake earlier in right away. Not sure what else to do? Tomorrow I work so its unlikely ill catch them..

You seem to do it right.  I hope they will do it better and better as they catch on.

You had them just one or two days, right?

What is their background?  Had they seen and used litter before, or are they from outside, and litter is new for them?

If new, they are doing very nicely so far.

Some accidents may happen, it is well known.  And some extra peeing may be because they feel nervous or stressed.  In that case they just pee on themselves. You can see it even with adult homeraised cats too sometimes.

Keep reporting and asking!

Good luck!

I got them Saturday night so one full day and two nights. They came from a woman with 18 cats and one of her unfixed cats got out and got pregnant.. well two did actually but I only got one litter. She told the place I foster from they are inside cats so she didn't have to fix them all when they agreed to take the kittens off of her or something I didn't quite follow. Anyways I think they probably go outside because they had fleas and for two to Accidently get out at the same time...They are also full of worms but they cant be dewormed until 8 week apparently. Anyways I was told we don't know what litter they were using- if any- and if they were outside at all.. though we do know they were inside. These kittens scratch the floor to burry when they go on the floor.

I think the pees were nervous ones now based on your post because this morning there was a HUGE pee on the floor.. either someone was holding it or more than one went there.. but anyways it was much different from the other small pees that were more like greese puddles than pee. They had used the boxes and the boxes were quite dirty (3 poops and 3 pees between the two of them) from me sleeping all night.. yesterday I kept it clean because I was home but today I work so I put out a third box. There is a box in the original spot and one in the spot I found poop last night and one in the spot I found poop this morning. The interesting thing about the poop this morning was that last night I took the lid off the covered box because they had been using the uncovered more and I was trying to go towards their preference. I left the lid on the floor right side up and this morning someone pooped under it- so they knew it was part of their litter box but didn't care there was no litter?

One kitten popped a squat for number two this morning and I put them in the litter box to finish.. then I put a kitten in each litter box to remind them again..

I hope I come home to no messes. BTW this may be TMI but half of them have 'good' poops, half are sorta soft... and I had one diiarea in the whole time I have had them so I don't think its a 'opps' thing.

Nay, thay can be dewormed earlier, at least for the round worms, the common in kittens.

Pyrantel preparates can be used  from about over 2 weeks...

The english allround preparate Milbomax can also be used rather early.

You can google yourself and refresh memory.

This about 8 weeks is surely what the allround preparate used by your shelter does demands.

Im not sure, I know they can be dewormed earlier but the shelter lady said 8 weeks and I had to sign something that I will not give them medical attention or medications. I had to contact the shelter in case of emergency so im stuck waiting till 8 weeks.

Okay so when I got home from work the three boxes were all used .. three-five clumps in each. There was a poo on the floor beside one box.. I picked it up snd went to dispose of it and came back and there was a pee in the same spot. Cleaned the spot and then put another litter box with my cats wood pellet litter in it right on the spot. No messes since this afternoon and all boxes were used accept the pellet one..3-5 items in each again. I feel maybe one kitten is doing it and is picky maybe. But if they are so picky that 4 boxes for 6 kittens over 8 hrs.. anyways I hope I wake to a clean room... on a side note one kitten was attemping to nurse me..searching my belly and pressing his head into my shirts wrinkles with his eyes mostly shut...
