Monet decided to raid the fridge AND freezer last night. Guess I need to try different locks.. again. I am royally angry with him now (And I know it's Monet, and not Cassie)

I lost my milk, it was too warm (at least the other food in the fridge was salvagable). My meat (And their raw food) are all defrosted. Most of them are going in the trash since you can't refreeze meat and there's just too much for me and the cats to eat before going bad. Lost my ice cream too.

I am missing a burger patty I can't find anywhere.. I am sure Monet ate it. Just can't find the wrapper it came in.

However, I have some TV dinners in my freezer that's totally defrosted.. they're chicken pot pie, and some weight watchers frozen dinners. I was wondering if they can be re-frozen, or should I toss them?

I know your frustration. At my old place it was easy to get on top of the freezer and pop it open. I lost so much food before I bought the child lock that is like a buckle. It has a strap that attaches to the door and the buckle part attaches to the side. Worked well for me.

As for your frozen stuff, I would guess if it was just defrosted and not warm it would be safe to eat. I just don't know how good it will taste though.

it's on the warmer side.. not too cold anymore.

This would be the 4th lock I've gone through. Monet doesn't do this on accident, he figures out how to unlock it. I think I'll have to do bungee cords.. he hasn't been able to open it on my trash.

Seriously?  Your cat can open your fridge and freezer WITH a lock on them?  How on earth....?

He's sneaky. First I used velcro. He figured out how to peel it back. Then I used two different types of locks with hinges/eye-hook.. he figured out how to undo them too. i will have to use a bungee cord this time. I can't use locks that drills into the fridge since it's an apartment. not my fridge.

I shouldn't laugh, but cats are just so clever! Jamie used to open the freezer we have down the cellar, so that had to be "child-proofed". My sister had a cat that would not only open the fridge, but would get inside and push the food out for the dogs to enjoy. She got a big strap (think giant bungee cord) from a moving company and used that for years.

You have to wonder how many child-proof locks are sold to households without young children, but with cats.

I probably wouldn't refreeze the frozen dinners, but you should be able to use some today and tomorrow.

No, you can't refreeze that stuff. If the item is still very cold, cook it and then refreeze.  But if it is already room temperature, toss it.  No sense taking a risk of food poisoning.

That is FUNNY.  Our fridge is built in and there's no place a cat could crawl onto to open it, so I guess I never thought about cats doing something like that.
