Hiya,
I don't really know what to say or how to be, on 28th March I had to lay to rest my best friend Brody due to fatal illness.... I still cry each day as I miss him so much, I was feeling so empty & so lost... I left the house I lived him & having a relationship break as my partner was partly the reason he got sick & was horrendous regards the whole situation... So I have a new home, and got a new kitty Elvis, he's 13 weeks & everything that Brody was, cut a long story short - he's sick & I think he's dying too : smelly mustard diarrhoea, swollen very intestine, eating loads, sleepy, muscle convulsions, crying, scatty irratic behaviour and very clingy.. I've been to the vets & they've said that it could be undeveloped liver, or could be tumour or parasites but he's been wormed & there's never been in any in his stools I've checked all of them... He's started having really bad confulsions at night - back, legs, mouth, eyes roll backwards going white, stops breathing, heart slows & then a rattle... This happened 6 times last night & after everything stops for 30isb seconds he springs back to life.... I'm shattered as I had all this Brody & now again with my little Elvis - do I put him to rest too or get the blood/X-ray done?? I took him yesterday as well but the vet said they couldn't do the bloods as he was too aggressive & neurotic .... I just want some advice as I'm not coping well at all xx

I have no advice I'm afraid but just wanted to let you know that I really feel for you and that you're not alone. I have a right decision to make about my kitty baby tonight and I feel sick to my stomach. But kitty mummy's are the best kind and we are strong. I am sure the little guy knows how much you love him and that you will do your best for him regardless of outcome xx

I'm so sorry to hear what you have gone through recently and how worried you are about Elvis.  You are amazing to make such big life changes with the love of your kittens in your heart, and Elvis is incredibly  lucky to be with you for his troubled times.  Can you phone your vet to talk through how Elvis' health is and describe the seizure and breathing patterns or have you already done this? Have you asked if there is anything they could do to help calm him for tests to be done? It is so, so hard but it comes down to the vet's advice and your own feelings.

You say he is eating loads but diarrhoea, are you able to get him to take water at all?  Maybe from a little syringe to help keep him hydrated?

It is always heart breaking when you don't see little ones get better and don't know what to do.  It is only natural that you are still grieving for Brody and coping with this so soon must be extra hard. Keep strong. Remind yourself that everyone who knows about your situation on this site will be thinking of you and wishing both you and Elvis the best for how ever things develop. He sounds like he's a very poorly little soul just now but he is with a loving mum who wants to look after him.

Is it at all possible to take him to an emergency veterinary hospital?  He sounds very sick.  So sorry.

He definitely needs to be seen again, possibly by a different Vet?  I'm amazed when VETs can't get a blood test.  They should be able to bundle the kitty up in a towel or something and get a blood draw

But I agree with the above poster, if possible you could at least explain what happened last night with the convulsions, etc. and see what they say, it might at least be a start.  Maybe he needs to see a specialist.  Do you have feline only Vets in your area?

Hi everyone, thank you so much for your kindness... I think tonight is the night I'm in floods of tears he's started the convulsions again and he has just come and jumped on my knee put is head up for escimo kisses and now jumped down and gone under the bed.... My heart is broken, I can't believe it I really can't especially after a Brody, I spent over 4000 over 2 weekends to see what was wrong and I diagnosed him before they did!!!! I wrote it all down after it had happened so I had it like for like so he knew all this and more, then he said we can't take the blood due to his behaviour, but Elvis hates the car and hates his carrier so I don't want to cause him anymore upset.... If he gets through tonight I'm going to call for a vet to come here... I daren't look under the bed [emoji]128549[/emoji][emoji]128549[/emoji][emoji]128549[/emoji][emoji]128549[/emoji][emoji]128549[/emoji][emoji]128549[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji][emoji]128575[/emoji]... Thank you again all of you and I hope that you are all ok and Leeroy my heart is with you xx

I would take him but its 45 min away and it stresses him so much and all they do is put him on a drip and give him tablets ..., I did all of that with Brody 6578 I spent trying to get him better majority at emergency clinic hence the bill!!! I am giving him fluids and he is eattng well but it's seriously not good at all. I'm just so sad x

How are things today?  Thinking of you.

I can't believe those vet bills just for diagnosis, and not being able to get bloods done, and having to use an emergency clinic so much. Maybe not for now but are there no other vet practices nearer to you? I would be feeling really unsupported and lacking in trust if I was in your position and given how emotional it is that is just horrible.  I have too much experience of being a sobbing, sniveling wreck (not to mention the time I nearly feinted when they were cleaning out an infected cyst) at my vets to go to one I don't feel totally trusting of.

Your story breaks my heart -- I've been there, and only wish there were something I could do. I will keep you and little Elvis in my thoughts.
