If she is laboring fruitlessly, you dont have much choice.  You can wait at max two hours more hoping for the best, but in the end you must to the vet.  Do phone him at least!

In the time, try to raise money. Lend from friends or neigbhours.  In emergency cases, it is socially acceptable to ask even from persons you normally arent close friend with, and for them - it is expected they try and help.

But if she has taken a pause, and is not bothered and calm, no problems, you can wait and see.

You shall be watchful and observe, but you dont need to panic.

We have at this moment Two stillborn kittens for you to compare.

Continue and report and ask!

Good luck!

Agree with Stefan ..  It depends on what is going on with the cat.    Sometimes cats can take a break in the middle for hours,  even for a day!   and if she's just resting comfortably and caring for the kittens already born,  and seems to be fine,   it is OK to wait.

Sometimes if she gets up and moves around more that might re-start labor.

but if she is straining hard , you dont want to let that go on to long.

If a kitten actually starts being born and is stuck and you can see it  there are things you can do  to try to ease the kitten out gently scooting a little on one side then the other,  rubbing KY Jelly around the opening to help smooth it.

but if that does not work,   or if  you cannot even see the kitten but she is pushing hard for like 40 min.  or is having hard contractions for a few hours and it does not progress,  there is really nothing you can do at home to ensure the survival of the kittens OR your cat.

Or if time just keeps going by and no kittens,     I would not wait over 36 hours  before finding some way to get her to a vet.

Hopefully she will go on to have the rest of them naturally without complications.

Is she nursing and lying with the kittens that were already born?  They need to be kept warm and they do need to be fed , so hopefully she is taking care of them.

If there is something that might be bothering her and making her feel it is not safe ( for example being somewhere noisy or with a lot of activity,  other pets or kids running in and out etc.)  make a change of that and keep it a quiet room with the door closed.     One of the reasons they stop labor is if they feel stressed somehow.    but it can also just be that they got tired.

Continue to observe and watch closely!

They get often quite a lot of discharge, but we dont want it to contain pus.

If you suspect pus in the discharge, perhaps smelling bad, and or her temperature is raising, you must again to the vet, to get her antibiotics.

Such infections can develop quite quickly, even dramatically.

The normal temperature of a cat is about 102 Fahrenheit  in the behind, 99 under the foreleg.

Or  about 38,5-39 Celsius in the behind, and 37,5C under the foreleg.

If you know well your cat, you will often feel if it runs fever even without measuring.  I did always felt on my child.

Good luck!

No worry, breach births ( butt first) are very normal in cats and usually not a problem. If there IS a problem that the kitten is not coming out, try easing gently first one side then the other. No not pull on the tail.
