Your landlord can't suddenly change the terms of your tenancy like that. Is there a way for you to contact a free legal advisor service? Sometimes law students will do stuff like this pro bono. I bet a letter from a lawyer would change his mind real quick ;). Do you have a copy of your lease?

Actually, with notice, the landlord usually can.  They cannot 'mid-term' (for instance, if you sign for a year, they can't do it to you during that year) but if the time for lease renewal is here or if the lease is month-to-month, the landlord can change the terms provided notice (usually the same notice as would be required by the tenant to move out, 1-2 months in most cases) is given. If the landlord has given her notice, he can 'change the deal'.  It is also possible (though I hope not) that the OP had the cats under the table and has been found out (no judgment, but I think under-the table cats are way more common than most people think, and you can definitely be evicted for that).

More details about what exactly has happened, when it happened, what kind of lease you signed, etc. would be extremely helpful.

1.I don't have a lease but was never limited to animals.I came with one dog but was never limited to animals. My landlord a longterm alcoholic says yes we did?

2.I'm on disabilty from alongterm abuse situation plus multiple medical problems many resulting from the abuse. This entitled me to get a lawyer from Catholic Charities,he had my Dr. declare my dog and cats emotional support animals.Because of no lease my landlord can evict me for no reason.I had to have my elderly dog put to sleep and find homes for my parakeet and bunny. There is no money to move otherwise I would move in a heartbeat.

3.What I hate is people who say they would never give their pets away,my animals deserve better than being homeless with me.It amazes me how many people don't understand poverty! All my animals were rescued and being alone I support everybody! Iwould appreciate prayers from everybody.

                                                                                                                                                     Thank You!

In that case all I really have to add is this from the guidelines:

If you're looking to find a new home for a cat:

1. The chances that anyone here will be able to take in the cat are slim.

2. We consider our cats to be family members and knowing just how hard it is to find a good forever home for a cat, people are bound to try and talk you into keeping the cat. If you're unwilling to deal with that approach, then please don't post here about your cat.

And one more question- where do you live? It is very unlikely anyone here will be able to take the cats, but it will be impossible for anyone to consider it without at least a general geographic location.

Have you considered craigslist? Also how old are the cats?

Have you talked to the lawyer again? I do think if the cats are declared emotional support animals it would be difficult to evict you. I also think if you are disabled it is usually harder to evict someone. I am not sure where you live but where I live we have a tenants rights association which has a hotline people can call. If you google the name of your city and tenants rights you may be able to find something. Where I live you can't be evicted because of a pet and it is actually super hard to evict people- it sucks that there are places this can happen.

Tulosai gave you some good advice. I would also add that vets are a good place to contact about rehoming cats as they will often take cats into their offices as "office cats". If you do try craigslist or any other online site make sure to ask for an adoption fee to weed people out who may want to do harm to the cat. Here is a good article on questions to ask adopters it is for kittens but the questions are good for adopting out any cat (http://www.thecatsite.com/a/kittens-to-good-homes).

Good luck and I hope things work out for you.

Emotional support animals and service animals are different.  Service animals are protected by law, emotional support animals are not.

This outside link explains the distinction well. http://www.blogs.va.gov/VAntage/986/service-dogs-and-emotional-support-animals/  (if outside links aren't allowed let me know and I will try to explain myself, but I think this does it better (if with something of a bias). (ETA here is a less biased one http://www.servicedogcentral.org/content/node/76)   A service animal has to be allowed but an emotional support animal doesn't because the service animal actually preforms a concrete task or tasks for a person that the person is incapable of preforming for him or herself.

I do agree that examining your rights as a disabled tenant may be worthwhile.
